For those of you who need instructions for cryptic crossword clues, check out this page .

These have all been created by a variety of well-known constructors. There may be one or two that we might question, but they're still fun. Please explain all answers.

-1. Melting ice originally covered by brownish-purple volcanic rock (6)
-2. Be overly frugal and fail to report income partner's capital (5)
-3. Chunks of egg left among almonds and pecans (7)
-4. Sailing canoe by myself across part of the Pacific (7)
-5. Some decadent or temptingly rich dessert (5)

canoe = Ocean
myself = i
across = a
part of the Pacific = Oceania (direct)

Riser = part of flight (of stairs!).
R(ome) IS E(arlie)R ; if so, "evacuated earlier" is really neat!!

The last one is a simple charade. The clue splits where you don't expect it to.

cheat = fail to report income
p = partner's capital (capital letter = first letter)
...probably wrong; don't see anything indicating "t"
being replaced by "p"...
