Forward and Back

Forward and Back - 04/30/13 12:54 PM

The following clues lead to a string of 50 letters. The letters form words from left to right as well as from right to left. The clues are listed alphabetically so they don't indicate the order or orientation that they actually appear in the string. There are seven clues for one direction and ten for the other.

Example: If the entire list of clues were "tardy" and "and others abbr" the string would be "late". Late for "tardy" and et al for "and others abbr"

One person posts the entire 50 letter string.

bird with a wide wing span
computer storage unit
damaged
decorative tile picture
dull routine
end of alphabet
flat pieces used as molding
having left a valid will
homicide
Impala enclosure?
loose overcoat
mai tai ingredient

reach an agreement out of court
rifle loader of yore
state in France?

No, Joan. That's not right at all! It's only 33 letters and the words don't answer any of the clues. lol

Re: Forward and Back - 04/30/13 07:28 PM

The object of the puzzle is to come up with 50 letters that will answer all of the clues given. Of the 17 clues, 7 of them will read from left to right and 10 will read from right to left (or visa versa) using the same group of letters.

Code:
7 answers----------->>>>>>>
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (50 letters)
            <<<<<<<<------------10 answers

The trick is figuring out how they all work together.

Hope that helps. smile

I pulled this puzzle from an AARP magazine. It wasn't exactly the same format but most of the clues were the same. I thought CCB was referring to the "crazy" part of Joan's post until it hit me. lol
