Chart Toppers - 02/04/15 02:07 PM

The letter groups below represent the top 10 "Songs of the Century" based on Broadcast Music, Inc. Each song title was split into triplets from beginning to end. If the letter length of the title is not divisible by three, there will be a remainder of one or two letters. Fill in the spaces to build the song titles. The year that the song was release and an anagram of the artist is graciously provided. The clue for #1 refers to the #1 title and so on.

This list was comprised based on royalties collected for the song titles but I wonder why all of the songs are from the 60's. What about the 70's? There were a lot of great artists in the 70's.

-1. ---'-- ---- ---- ------ ------- 1964 (brutish heros together)(3)
-2. ----- -- ---- 1967 (toss haiti canoe)(2)
-3. --------- 1965 (table these)(2)
-4. ----- -- -- 1961 (ken binge)(3)
-5. ---'- ---- -- ---- --- --- 1967 (evil link afar)(2)
-6. --- ---- -- --- --- 1968 (died sorting)(2)
-7. --- -------- 1968 (flunk a snoring dame)(3)
-8. ---- - ---- ---- ------ 1964 (shy jinn rover)(2)
-9. ------ -- --- ---- 1962 (ceased chats)(2)
-10. ------- -- -- ---- 1960 (carry leash)(2)

I am struggling to find a one word nine letter title for 3 (assuming my eyesight has let me count the letters correctly...) - Yesterday or Something, perhaps, although I am not sure that either was a 1967 track.

The song is "Yesterday" but you're right that it wasn't released in 1967. It was actually 1965. My mistake.
