Re: Sage Advice Syl•la•cros•tic - 03/30/15 05:02 AM

Please excuse the thread hijack...I have never heard of Izmir before. Now I can google it and look on Wikipedia etc. but I wonder if anyone can recommend a book or two on the history that soot is referring to? Preferably something that is informative but not *too* dry.

I now return to the puzzle...

Re: Sage Advice Syl•la•cros•tic - 03/31/15 01:41 AM

All three correct..well done Bob, Gerry and manXman thumbsup

Bob..temporary hijacks are OK..I made that comment more metaphorically about the region than in the literal sense about Izmir. And, I don't know of any history books that aren't dry per se ... history buffs and some professors can bring history alive. And, I wouldn't spend $$ on books when you can do research on-line ... starting with Wikipedia and Google ... to learn more about this region of the planet ... so many empires have risen and fallen in this region. I believe you could spend a life time researching this region. yes
