Coffee Time

Coffee Time - 09/21/17 04:56 PM

One I came across a while back and liked the look of:

I make my coffee in the microwave. Every time I make coffee, I set the microwave to 73 seconds. I can often predict that it will come out hotter or cooler than desired, but I punch 73 anyway. Why?

think

Well, when you set 73 seconds but don't start the microwave you'll predict cooler than desired and sure enough, it is

And when you set 73 seconds and start the microwave you'll predict hotter than desired and sure enough, it is

Hmmmm, but while typing this another thought comes to mind...

Possibly because you are blind and can easily find those buttons knowing that it is a safe setting regardless of the size of your cup (which will determine the actual temperature)...or perhaps because your microwave is broken and that is the only setting which works! smile

Does it have to do with the temperature of the water going into the microwave?

Eyesight 20/20 Lex, and it's the same cup every time (I'm a cheapskate). Clever to think of the buttons, but they all work OK

Water comes out of the same cold tap Flo, so it only varies by a degree or so. 73 seconds gives me a good coffee every time...

Re: Coffee Time - 09/22/17 05:16 PM

Is it because it's your preference to your taste of the coffee pressed on 73?

Re: Coffee Time - 09/22/17 05:37 PM

could be the size of your cup rolleyes

Doubtful lol

Re: Coffee Time - 09/22/17 05:53 PM

Gail - I'm not that picky about taste

Joan - I only have the one cup

A hint - I could also use 146 seconds, but the coffee would have boiled over by then think

Three cheers for the Birthday Boy! rah birthday urock

As for the coffee mainly what I think of with 73 is the old western film Winchester 73...

...noting that it could also be 146 seconds, is 73 seconds the minimum single button setting (which would offer multiples of 30 seconds on most microwaves in my experience)?

Hmmmm....73 seconds makes the cup handle readily available once the turntable stops so you can take your coffee out of the microwave without burning your fingers on the thin cup?

Happy belated birthday Rog! birthday

Re: Coffee Time - 09/25/17 12:26 PM

Is it by the amount of water you put in your cup

Re: Coffee Time - 09/25/17 12:39 PM

Is your cup made of tin? Maybe any longer than 73 seconds would blow the cup up.
