Chain Letters - 12/28/17 02:14 AM

Find the members of a hidden category by linking letters. Each letter on both sides of the arrows is used at least once. Most answers are single words, but some may be hyphenated or two-word answers. As you solve, you may find words that don't fit the category - these should be discarded.

Start with a letter on the left of an arrow and link it to one of the letters to the right of the same arrow. Find that second letter on the left and link it to a letter on its right. Continue the process until an answer is formed.

The number in parentheses indicates the number of answers in the category. Each answer is at least four letters long. Please answer an entire category.

To help Joan.

opera

Re: Chain Letters - 12/29/17 01:14 AM

Perhaps pop and jazz are separate entries and Curly's answer finishes the list? shiver

Oops, it would help if I read the directions for solving! insane

1. How about zydeco?

Not sure if pop and jazz can go together. There's no "j" beside the "p".
Posted By: Redz

Re: Chain Letters - 12/29/17 02:11 AM

meant to put in jazz pop. Has to be 5 letters, maybe Jazzy?

opera doesn't work, Remi.

Never heard of zydeco. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist pacify

Re: Chain Letters - 12/29/17 02:37 AM

Aren't group solves fun? grin12

Jazz is correct, zydeco is correct, opera doesn't work. There's one word left and it starts with K.

Sue, honey, what happened to...5 letters long? think

Re: Chain Letters - 12/29/17 03:25 AM

Aha! Klezmer! I knew there had to be one that ended with "er" since the r wasn't used at all. happydance12

I wonder if Sesame Street does a video for that, too! rotfl12

Klezmer it is! reindeer

Joan, I'm not sure why you said it was 5 letters long. Links can be used more than once. kissy12

Re: Chain Letters - 12/29/17 09:54 AM

Why doesn't opera work please?
Posted By: Redz

Re: Chain Letters - 12/29/17 12:17 PM

Cheryl, thank you for re-posting the 5 letter minimum from Sue. hearts
I kept trying to figure out what genre ends in er also

Remi, opera doesn't work because if you start with O and use the P, then
go to P there is no E.

Klezmer??? What happened to something like Motown? whistle

Well, now, that's my mistake. Each answer is at least four letters long. blush

Since when does anyone read the directions? wink12

Re: Chain Letters - 12/31/17 09:28 AM

I need help with number 3. I'm not seeing a clear theme, yet.

One answer needs to end with F. I found only TURF, and I just discovered that TURF is an informal British verb (to remove, as in "we were turfed from the tram").

I also found the words DUCK(ING), GRIND, SLAM, SQUEEZE, and TUCK(ING).

Are these all fightin' words? headscratch

Re: Chain Letters - 12/31/17 01:30 PM

Hi Helmer and welcome to our garden.

I pretty much gave up on this one, hoping Pandora would
by now give a hint. I came up with the same words you did.
also nibble and stroking. Could not figure out a commonality.
M is another ending letter.
Fighting or wrestling is a real possibility, which would probably
eliminate nibble and stroking. think

Hi guys! I'll give a hint late this afternoon. smile12

Re: Chain Letters - 12/31/17 02:40 PM

KNUCKLE is another possible fighting word in there, but on the other hand DRIBBLE would be a different theme... smile12

Re: Chain Letters - 12/31/17 06:34 PM

There's also:

dribbler
dugout
error
knuckler
nibble
rookie
squeeze
steal
turf
inning
grand slam

Hmmmmm..... whistle

Re: Chain Letters - 12/31/17 08:10 PM

You missed out kibble... wink12

Re: Chain Letters - 12/31/17 08:51 PM

Is kibble a baseball term?

And, I think it should be astro turf to use all the letters. happydance12

Wow, Sherlock. Next time, I'll borrow your magnifying glass!

(Also, I forgot that answers could be more than one word. [blip].)
