Maths, logic, trivia, puns, general silliness - an assortment of stuff too disparate to go under any other title. In other words, same old rubbish.
-1. "Those living in straw huts mustn't store royal seats." - what misheard proverb does this describe?
-2. What is the next number in this series 3,3,5,4,4,... ?
-3. A wordie:
Might have been easier if I'd done:
-4. You have three heavy beams of differing weights, A B and C, and want to find out which one is the heaviest. You also have a scale which tells you which of any two beams is heavier, but it does not give the specific weight of any beam. In what order must you perform the following steps to determine which beam is the heaviest, and to mark it accordingly?
a. Weigh A against B
b. Weigh B against C
c. Weigh A against C
d. If A is heavier, skip the next three statements.
e. If A is heavier, skip the next four statements.
f. If B is heavier, skip the next five statements
g. Mark "A" heaviest
h. Mark "B" heaviest
i. Mark "C" heaviest
j. Skip the next statement
k. Skip the next two statements
l. Skip the next three statements
m. end
-5. A man sitting at a bar empties a small matchbox and lays it on the bottom of an upside-down glass, with about a half inch of the box hanging over the edge. He places his finger under the overhanging edge of the box and very slowly lifts it, until it's standing upright. Telling a couple of other patrons that it's harder than it looks, he sets up the glass and matchbox again and challenges one of them to try it. After the second man is able to do it, the first man says it must have been beginner's luck and offers to wager a beer that the second man can't do it again. On his next attempt the box topples over and the man loses the bet. How did the first man know that he would win?
A matchbox is not symmetrical in its construction. Think of the insert...
-6. GREEN + BLUE = YELLOW + ???? Think indoor games
-7. You have 6 apples in a basket and 6 guests. How do you manage to give each guest an apple, leaving one in the basket?
-8. There were three men, a blind man, a naked man, and a man with no arms out walking together. The blind man said "Look there is an apple tree." The man with no arms picked an apple and the naked man took it and put it in his pocket. How is this possible?
Think a double definition, the word of "blind" and "picked" and a grammatical ambiguity of the use of the word "his"...
