Introduction of the story:
“It is the year 2329 and you are Gage Blackwood, Agent 5 of the Temporal Security Agency (TSA). For the past eleven years, it has been your incredible duty to protect history from any threat that could disastrously change it. Twice in your decorated career as the TSA’s elite agent, you have saved Earth from criminals utilizing time travel to destroy history as we know it.
Two months ago, you thwarted a plot to frame you, masterminded by a traitor once thought above suspicion-Michelle Visard, the rogue Agent 3 of the TSA. She had capture you and threatened to betray the secrets of time travel to another alien race known as the Krynn. But your intrepid online companion, the sentient Artificial Intelligence Arthur, saved you by creating a virus that infected Agent 3’s time-travel JumpSuit and caused a malfunction. Unfortunately, Arthur himself was the virus and he was trapped within Agent 3’s time-travel JumpSuit when a flood of violent temporal energy surrounded them both and sent them spinning into the time stream. No trace of Agent 3 or Arthur has been found and both are presumed dead.
Since then, a grim time has befallen the TSA. With the Agent 3 scandal undermining the credibility of the TSA, the intergalactic league of worlds known as the Symbiotry has demanded that Earth surrender control of its time-travel technology. You watch helplessly as the TSA shuts down around you.
While the TSA endures its darkest hour, distant events are transpiring on the far border of known space that dwarf the scope of any danger you have ever faced before. A forgotten alien race has amassed a fleet of warships and returned to claim a relic long lost. As their ships ominously approach Earth, you are charged with discovering that which they seek. As you accept the challenge to save Earth from the mysterious invaders, you learn that the answers to the crisis in the present lie hidden within the past….”
……This is where your story begins.
As soon as you gain control of Gage, you are given the job to go back in time to receive the three timepieces that Michelle has left behind in three eras. These eras being the Himalayans, the Andes and Atlantis. You must find these three timepieces in order to get to the time where Michelle is hiding out and capture her and take her back to the TSA. So far so good, as soon as you capture Michelle, she tells you what she learned and why she betrayed you. Now that you know her reason of betrayal, you must find these three legacy pieces in order to safeguard them from other races that are fighting over the chance to gain a hold of these legacies. Your mission as usual is to save the Earth.
The Three Eras
Since I’m not a history buff, I’ll just take my chance here in saying that the eras that were a part of the game were very well thought out, in what they all had to do with a part of the story. Each era is FMV, none of them at all cartoon-like. The actors are real, too. Thus saying, that each of the actors brought their own talent into this game and worked well within the whole story.
The Puzzles
The puzzles were well-designed for this game. Ranging from medium to hard. The hardest one being the symbol puzzle when you have gathered all three pieces of the legacy together. In the end, each puzzle gives you a fair chance in trying to solve it on your own. If not, you can always turn to Arthur for help on the puzzle or the hint board.
…Speaking of Arthur……
This guy is either a love ‘em or hate ‘em kinda guy. Or in my terms Artificially Annoying or in the design team term Artificially Intelligent. This guy is very useful in the game. He can give historical background in the era you’re in. He can translate foreign writing for you. Which you will definitely need for him to do in a few instances. If you don’t like him, just stay and watch the ending credits for a bit and you may enjoy the song that he sings for you in the end.
The Ending
I thought the ending movie tied up everything nice and neatly. I haven’t played the other two games, yet. So, I don’t know how nicely things were tied up from the other two games. All I have left to say is: Play This Game! It is one heck of a great game! If you don’t you’ll regret on what you missed out on when it’s gone. If you do play it, I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have. Have fun with the game!
