Too bad it's Steam-only.

I never got around to playing the first 3 games though I do have them. Can the 4th game be played and understood/enjoyed without having played the first 3?
Thanks.

Hi Oldbroad,

Each of the 4 Rhems are stand alone games.

A simple explanation for the storyline is: The gamer is contacted by a brother (Zetais) to go to Rhem and find/connect with the other brother (Kales). Kales is studying-exploring Rhem to solve a "mystery". It turns out that Rhem is vast and as of right now 4 areas are found. In each Rhem game, the gamer has to explore, solve problems and find something that is requested by the brothers to help them solve the "mystery".

Barbarossa, there will be a DRM-free release on Amazon later in the month and a GoG release is being worked on.

So, has anybody who is reading this completed the game?
I would be interested how many additional puzzles Knut added
compared to the first edition. I will play it anyway i think,
for completeness sake, but of course it would be great if
he included a lot of new puzzles. I hope he has enough
great puzzle ideas left for RHEM V, though.

Mike,

Yes - Knut added lots of new puzzles. He opened a whole new area.

If you want to check - here's walkthrough - click here.

lol I don't think Knut will run out of ideas.

@MaG:

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the info.

For the Rhem games, I NEVER check a walkthrough,
i want to solve everything on my own and except for
the final riddle in Rhem I, i never used a walkthrough.

And yes, the sheer amount of puzzles Knut has
come up with is amazing, he is simply
the best puzzle designer in the adventure genre.
I encountered puzzles of such quality only in
two other games (Riven and Schizm I), nothing
else comes close inmo.
My only fear is that eventually, the puzzles will only
be variations of former ones. I cannot
imagine how it can be possible to always
create new puzzles that are totally different from
previous ones. But this is probably due to my
limited creativity. And even then, i will enjoy his games,
i am sure of that.

mike,

I think the additional puzzles are new. You'll like them.
