LONDON, March 10 2016: Square Enix Collective™ is to publish The Turing Test, a forthcoming first-person puzzle game created by British studio Bulkhead Interactive, on Steam™.

The game will release in August 2016 and puts players in the shoes of Ava Turing, an engineer for the International Space Agency (ISA), as she attempts to uncover the truth behind the research base on Jupiter’s moon, Europa.

Solve puzzles using your Energy Manipulation Tool (EMT) to transfer power out of one object and into another; power up and take control of artificially intelligent machines, manipulate giant structures and solve complex tasks - all woven into a multi-layered story based on the human struggle for control.

The game, being developed using Unreal 4, is the next project to release from Bulkhead Interactive. The studio previously released Pneuma: Breath of Life, and recently concluded a successful Kickstarter campaign for their next project Battalion 1944 (which is planned to release in 2017).

“I’m very excited to be working with the Bulkhead Interactive team,” said Square Enix Collective creator and project lead Phil Elliott. “It’s our aim to support new development talent in a range of ways, and it’s already clear that this team is destined to have a big impact on the industry in the future.”

“We’re big fans of the platform that Square Enix® has created in Collective,” said Howard Philpott, Creative Producer at Bulkhead Interactive. “We’re excited to be a part of Square Enix’s plans for the future of the industry. For us at Bulkhead they’ve opened many doors that wouldn’t have been accessible to us without their connections or years of experience in publishing games. They’ve given us the opportunity to make The Turing Test a more solid, polished, and ultimately an all-round better game.”

The Turing Test will be one of the games featured in the Square Enix Collective range at EGX Rezzed, taking place in London from April 7-9. As part of the partnership, the game will benefit from marketing services provided by world-leading agency Petrol Advertising and forecasting and evaluation support from EEDAR.

Creative control and all IP rights are retained by Bulkhead Interactive.

The Turing Test is a first person puzzler from the developers of ‘Pneuma: Breath of Life’ that explores the phenomena of consciousness and challenges the meaning of human intuition. Take control of Ava Turing, an engineer for the International Space Agency (ISA), and progress through a narrated story of introspection and morality whilst uncovering the hidden mysteries of Europa. Delve into The Turing Test’s human interaction puzzles and arm yourself with logical and methodical thinking. Take on tests designed in such a way that only a human could solve them. In an evolving story based on mankind’s inherent need to explore, protect and survive; players search deeper into Europa’s ice crusted core and transcend the line between man and machine.

Investigate the truth behind the ISA research base on Jupiter’s moon Europa. Solve puzzles using your Energy Manipulation Tool (EMT) to transfer power out from one object and into another. Power up and take control of artificially intelligent machines, manipulate giant structures and solve complex tasks; all woven into a multi-layered story based on the human struggle for control. The Turing Test can only be experienced through the interactive medium of video games.

The Turing Test sparks your synapses into action in this electrifying new first person puzzler, as players learn the true cost of retaining human morality.

Features

Harness the ability to transfer power between machines using your ‘Energy Manipulation Tool’ providing a unique twist on gameplay mechanics and puzzle logic.
Learn the significance of player control as you switch between multiple perspectives to solve The Turing Test’s most challenging puzzles.
Discover a story with multiple layers of depth and conspiracy; challenging concepts of human morality and giving freedom to players to form theories about the fate of ISA's crew members.

Happy Gaming!

If it uses the Unreal protocol, will it be one of those games that you can't Save whenever and wherever you like?

I don't believe it has anything to do with it. It all depends on what save feature they wish to incorporate.
