Not sure what you mean - are you getting some kind of error message that pops up? If so, we can move your question over to the Glitches forum. Are you playing from a download or is it from physical disks?

My Pandora Directive download from GOG runs very well.

I have moved this over to Glitches so that someone here can try to help you.

Thanks for letting us know that it's an out of memory error message.

I think I found a possible solution for you, based on the information in this thread on GOG. It involves tweaking the DosBox configuration file for your Pandora Directive from GOG, and hopefully someone here will be able to give you good instructions on how to do that.

One of the posters says this:

Quote:
Try editing the dosboxtex4 config-file, there's a line with memory size there, make it 32 or higher. Should solve the memory issue.

I think that will probably fix the problem, and I am not sure why GOG did not allocate more memory in DosBox for this game in the first place.

First, find your GOG Pandora Directive folder. Mine is in C: GogGames and it says Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive. Double-click on that folder and then you will a list of files. The file you want says: dosboxTex4. Just scroll down until you find it: the files are in alphabetical order.

Let me know when you have located this file, and then we can proceed with further instructions. I spent a little time finding this myself so that I could try to help you. It just so happens that I have the GOG Pandora Directive installed on my computer. smile

Okay, now what you are going to do is to double-click on that file - when I did that, I got a message from Windows saying that it couldn't open the file or some such thing and do you want to choose a program that will open it for you. Choose Notepad ++ (or whatever version of Notepad you have). After you say you want to open it with Notepad, you should then be looking at the DOSBox configuration file.

Then, go down to line 49 and you will see a line that says this:

memsize=16

What you are going to do is to change the number 16 to the number 32, so that the line looks like this:

memsize=32

After you have made this change, be sure to SAVE this change by hitting Control + S. Once you have saved the information, you can exit out of this dosbox config file and you are done.

Then start up Pandora Directive again and see if the game crashes. I am hoping that this will fix your problem.

Let me know how it goes. smile

Glad it worked! Since you are now asking questions about game play, please post this question over in Adventure Game Hints and Help, okay? We can discuss the game there from now on, and hopefully there won't be any more technical problems. wave
