Hi, oldman. There are quite a few QTEs in Tales From the Borderlands, yes, but I don't think they're terribly difficult. I'm not a fan of them either, but I didn't find them any harder than the old Space Quest games for example. I use Space Quest IV for the most comparable example, if you've ever played that one. I don't find them as arcade like as Space Quest III, which is my least favorite SQ, mostly for that reason. A good portion (probably the majority) of the game is interacting with other characters and making choices about what you want to say or do in any situation. The characters are all fun and very well written.
You do have to use keyboard commands for the majority of the QTEs, so if that's more of a hassle for you, you may want to keep it in mind. They tend to be on the left side of the keyboard, so when the QTEs come up, I will keep one hand on the keyboard and one on the mouse. The game does give you the opportunity to start a sequence over if you "fail" at any point, so you don't lose any progress, unlike the old Sierra games. Not sure if this would be something you'd want to do, but you could always check out one or two YouTube videos to see if you think it would be something manageable for you, or something not worth the effort. I found a no commentary playthrough of episode 1 if you want to check it out -
