Do you have any plans on ringing in the New Year? Any traditions such as eating a certain food for good luck?

Whatever your plans, I wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

Cooking up four beef roasts with onions and seasonings for roast beef sandwiches for New Years Eve for about 40 people. We just go in to our American Legion Post and spend time with friends.

Then I will be making a big roaster of ham and beans for our American Legion for New Years Day. I will also be making a big slow cooker of Texas Style Black Eyed Peas for good luck. Now THAT is some good stuff! Melia, a member here and at MM gave the recipe to me several years ago.

presents12 We are home for New Year's eve and day. It's our tradition to have baked ham, shrimp cocktail, and nibble on all kinds of yummy appetizers! Oh and of course champagne! Happy New to you all! presents12

I'm not sure yet if I'm going out or staying in tonight. If I go out it will just be to our little neighborhood bar where my grandson works. Pork and Sauerkraut is what we eat, except now that hubby is gone no one else will eat sauerkraut or pork cooked in it. Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. HNY

Drac, what are Texas Style Black Eyed Peas?

We always stay up to see the New Year in, call friends who haven't turned off their phone, watch the fireworks on tv and then thankfully pop off to bed. This year I'll be doing it with the doggies as hubby and son and g'sons are gone to MIL's place.

New Year's Day is parades, football, and some type of Pork with black-eyed peas. This year I'm tossing them into a ham bean soup

They are made with spicy Rotel tomatoes and good garlicky Polish sausage.

Our family bonfire. Last year we canceled it due to bad weather and right now it looks kinda iffy. Did shopping for the occasion -2 kinds of bratwurst, vegan and regular, hot dog rolls, pickels and of course plenty of marshmellows and drinks for all and mostly fireworks. Yippee

Sounds delicious, Drac!

Yankee, I hope the bonfire is a "go" this year.

Talking about food does that to me too, Marian. Have fun!

Growing up we always put out slippers for the "New Year's Lady". We would come out to find them filled mostly with chocolate coins. I think that came from the French side of the family.

These days, I get together with friends at one of our homes for pot-luck and we celebrate the Times Square New Year live here on the west coast at 9PM. That way we avoid the parade of drunks driving home after midnight.

I'm not much of a cook so will be bringing this Egg Casserole. It's easy and foolproof. I've made it dozens of times and it always comes out perfect.

My tradition is to release the contractors I have had chained up in my basement through the year.
I give them a short lecture on how to treat people and hope they will be better in the future.

I'm sure we can all think of some contractors we'd like to send to your basement for 2016!

I'm doing my usual New Year routine. In bed when I can't stay awake anymore. Then waking up at midnight to fireworks and gunshots. Staying awake for an hour while all the 'nuts' continue to shoot off the aforementioned ammunition. Then falling asleep happy that it's a brand new year to foul up. 'Be afraid, be very afraid'.

We will have our usual black-eyed peas and if we have black-eyed peas we have to have corn bread, not sure what type meat yet. It's rainly and cold here so we will be staying in. A lot of people in the South fix cabbage, which I love, but we don't fix it, hubby won't eat it and it smells up the kitchen. My mother-in-law used to put a leaf of cabbage in her wallet/billfold every year, she said she would always have money in it if she did so.
I always stay up to welcome in the New Year but may not this year. I was playing Astray and it's given me a bit of a headache.
To all my fellow Gameboomers I wish you a Happy and prosperous New Year!

Hubby & I don't do anything New Years eve, but New Years day I have my son coming over & I'll be making baked ham with scalloped potatoes & corn & Caesar salad, in the afternoon I'll make Caesar drinks. Everyone is just laid back which is nice.
