Hi opcvop
When I played the game, I ran from side to side rather than in a straightish line and only stopped when I needed to,it took me awhile but I got there in the end, as Marian said check Youtube for hints on how to do it.
Good Luck SAFC

I have had no success with SH being hunted through the Epping Forest and after two days, about 20 tries and a very sore arm I have to give up. I'm so disappointed as I have loved every SH game up to now and it was a Christmas present. I've checked out You Tube and tried other suggestions but nothing is helpful for me. There is a lot about this game that I don't like especially SH looking like John Hamm from Mad Men and somehow becoming younger than the last game in the series. I don't mind giving it a good go but would have liked a skip option after a certain amount of tries. I couldn't find a GameBoomers review for the game??

I don't believe this game has been reviewed by GameBoomers. I'm really sorry that you are unable to get past that sequence. A lot of people seemed to have trouble with this. Maybe someone will have a saved game for you.

As suggested in the Steam community I emailed Frogwares with an attached file save and asked if they would be able to send a save after Epping Forest. I received an automated reply saying they would reply within 24hours, that was 3 weeks ago. I've emailed again, sigh.

Because I hate giving up..... I found saves for SH games at support.frogwares.com under Downloads. I clicked on Sherlock Holmes: The Devils Daughter (18) scrolled down and downloaded the file SH8EppingForest.zip 1.4MB. After extracting the two files 1.AutoSave.sav and ChkPfFort201607081220.sav I copied them into the SH The Devil's Daughter game file. Save files are auto deleted after completing each part of the game so I deleted the existing .sav files rather than renaming files. (I didn't delete Options.sav as I didn't know what it was for). I started the game and loaded the latest save which was a pic of Baker St so I didn't hold out much hope but there was SH still running madly but at the end of the forest, yay! It's easy to complete from there. I did not know that Frogwares had a support forum with game saves until now. A note to mods: please delete my post or add a caution if you think anything is amiss re the website or download files, thanks.
