I thought I would give this old game a try but I need to use the save editor. Acording to the readme I need to change the path in the shortcut (which has a default path) to Java. On my computor the Java is in C:\Program files\Java\Bin. but when I try to change the shortcut path target, I get the message "The name C:\Program" specified in the target box is not valid. make sure the path and the names are correct. But I can't find anything wrong with the path. can anyone help

Oh gosh, Merrick, I so can't help with that. I can however, move you to glitches where the folks who speak computer hang out, or I'll bet some of our other members/mods will understand, and maybe be able to solve this if you want to just hang here. Let me know

What version of Windows and from where are you/have you loaded NWN 2: CD, GOG, Steam or?

I am running windows 7 ultimate. The game is Neverwinter nights 2 forgotton realms, dvd
version (1765)(final)august17 2009 1023 17-29-45. the nwn2 character editor includes a remapping file
a readme and a jar file, also a shortcut file in which the target file has to be changed to suit your system. the nwn2 game file is in program files (86) Atari/ Neverwinter nights 2.
The target path path looks like c:\Program Files(x86)\Java\ire.180_100\bin\javaw.exe\-xmx256m-nwn2
install path(C:\Program Files\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2-jar NWN2 editor jar. which it seems is
the shortcut/java/game/ back to the editor jar file.

OK, so it's a character editor - At first it sounded like you were editing a save game for some other reason. I haven't personally used an editor in NWN2, just standard mods. Are you just trying to edit a character's stats? If so, that can also be done through the NWN developer's console. If that doesn't help and we don't get a reply from another member on this forum we can move you over to Glitches like Looney said and see if anyone else has had experience with the editor.

My trouble is keeping my party alive (not me) the Debug codes that affect party members do not work
I have tried the med kit ones and the mass heal but I just get a message to type "commands"
tried using "cheat engine" and altering characters health worked once, but the game changes the hex codes
on restart

Maybe you could let us know what part of the story and which battle you are in that is creating difficulty. Members of the forum might be able to offer up alternative strategies for beating the situation. Include your class and who's in your party.
