Hi All
I am playing an old game in Windows 7 64bit, Playing Mysterious Journey ll Chameleon, When I open the game all my saves
are there, but I cannot locate them in C:\program files\mysterious journey ll\save. I only have one .dtz file and
that's it. Does anybody have any idea where they might be stored? Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Dorf

See if there's another MJII folder in My Documents. Keep us posted.

It should have been where you originally looked - C: program files/MJ2/ save/player/slot folders.

In my program files C: program files/MJ2/ save/player/slot folders. I have a save folder, but no "/player" folder.
The only thing in the save folder is " ScreenSave.dtx" When I open the game I can load my saved games, but don't know where they are stored. Maybe win 7 is hiding them.

Good thinking! In your control panel, do a search for folder. Then do the "show hidden folders". Keep us posted.

If you're playing in Windows 7 the saves will probably be in some subfolder
of the C:\Users\your-username\AppData folder.

AppData is a hidden folder, so you have to enable viewing of hidden folders in order to see it.

The saves could be in a subfolder of any of the three subfolders inside AppData -- Local, LocalLow, or Roaming

They're very unlikely to show up in "My Documents". My Documents is an XP save location.

This game had a whole bunch of files as saves and it was not easy at all to transfer or back up saves.

Hi Jenny100
I have looked in all of the appdata folders and can not find anything. The only thing that I can think of is that win 7 did something when I installed the game. I thank you and MaG for the help. Maybe someone who has played this in Win 7 will see the post and reply. Thanks again

Is there any chance that something could be labeled with the word Detalion rather than MJ2?

Can you please check the location Jenny recommended. It has different AppData there.
C - Users folder - Computer name - AppData.

Hi All
I have rechecked C:\Users\your-username\AppData folder there is nothing there related to MJll. I have also looked for a folder
named Detalion. Well Thanks for trying to help. Maybe someone who has played this in win 7 will chime in. If I find out anything I will let you know.
Thanks again
Dorf

The game name folder is usually under the publisher name and not the developer name. So it could be in a subfolder called "Adventure Company" or "The Adventure Company" or something completely unexpected. You really have to look under everyth

Occasionally game saves show up in a subfulder of a folder called
C:\Users\your-username\Saved Games
but I've only seen that with recent games like Midnight Horror, Alum, and Order of the Thorne.

***This pcreview site*** shows save locations of various games. Some of them save in different places depending on whether you have UAC enabled or not.

***This article*** suggests some other locations.

Have you looked in the subfolders in the AppData folder? There should be Roaming, Local and LocalLow. Try looking in those if you haven't already.

Hi All
Well checked the links that Jenny100 provided, and checked out what the articles said, with no luck, searched the computer for any Adventure Games folders, with out any luck. Went through all the sub folders in AppData, with out any luck
I am considering uninstalling the game, and reinstall it and see what happens. Thanks for all the suggestions
If I find something I will let you know

Hi All
Mystery solved. I didn't dig down far enough into subfolder and didn't think it would be in virtualstore. The complete tree is
C:\Users/your-username/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Programfiles(x86)MJll/Save/Player. Thank you all for your help, and hopes this helps someone else
Thanks again

Yippee! I had a feeling it was down deep in one of those subfolders. Absolutely crazy place to store saved games.

It should be in the game's directory, in 'Player' folder just alongside that ScreenSave.dtx.
Search for file "Save1001.ini"!
