Between Big Fish casual games, Star Wars: The Old Republic , darkside and watching videos from Netflix I haven't played an adventure game in years.

I have Cognition chapter 4 still installed. So I guess I'll restart adventuring by someday finishing that. Any suggestions what I should play next to ease myself back in? I have a list of other games I have but haven't installed, some cases haven't downloaded from Steam yet.

I'm not entirely sure they're all adventure so feel free to point out if you see any on the list that aren't. Also I'm not sure if all will play under Windows 7. Anywhere he's the list:

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars - The Director's Cut (2010 - original 1996) - played original years ago
Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror - Remastered (2010 - original 1997 - played original years ago
Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon (2003)
Broken Sword: The Angel of Death (2007)
Edna & Harvey: The Breakout (2008)
Dead Mountaineer's Hotel (2009)
A Stroke of Fate: Operation Valkyrie (2009)
Gray Matter (2010)
Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island (2010)
Jolly Rover (2010)
Silver Lining 2: Two Households (2010)
Black Mirror III (2011)
Blue Madonna: A Carol Reed Mystery (2011)
Silver Lining 3: My only Love Sprung From My Only Hate (2011)
Hector: Episode 1 - We Negotiate with Terrorists (2011)
Hector: Episode 2 - Senseless Acts of Justice (2011)
Hector: Episode 3 - Beyond Reasonable Doom (2011)
Blackwell Deception (2011)
Silver Lining 4: Tis In My Memory Locked, And You Yourself Shall Keep The Key Of It (2011
Double Fine Adventure: Broken Age (2012)
Amber's Blood: A Carol Reed Mystery (2012)
The Journey Down chapter 1 (2012)
Tex Murphy - Project Fedora (2012)
Cold Case Summer: A Carol Reed Mystery (2013)
Lilly Looking Through (2013)
Moebius (2015)

Missing:
Kaptain Brawe (2010)
Lost Horizon (2010)
Puzzle Bots (2010)
Stacking (2011)
Goin' Downtown (2011) - have game but lost activation code
The Next Big Thing (2011)
Gemini Rue (2011)
Tiny Bang Story (2011)
City of Secrets (2011)
Alpha Polaris (2011)
Eko Episode 1: Strange New World (2011)
The Shine of a Star (2012)
Botanicula (2012) - strange, I have a zip file containing the soundtrack (mp3s) but not the game itself
The Book of Unwritten Tales (2012) - have game but lost activation code

Any of the Carol Reed Mysteries of course! wink
I don't have much to say about the others, so I'm not that good of a judge, but since I love CR, I have to at least try and send you in that direction. grin

As well as the Carol Reed games, I would say that Lost Horizon pleased an awful lot of players. I have also heard very good things about Gemini Rue. And if by Fedora Project you mean Tex Murphy: Tesla Effect, I highly recommend that one. Black Mirror III would be a good choice too, but make sure you are in the mood for a long game. And if you don't remember Black Mirror I and II all that well, it might be a little more difficult to understand the third one.

Botanicula, Tiny Bang Story, Lily Looking Through all are quirky excellent adventures.

Gardens put to bed for the winter. Time for some gaming!

The Key Of It (2011) -- are you sure this is a game?
Google is telling me it's an eBook.

Space Venture is not yet released.
Adventuregamers is estimating a 2017 release.

Just finished Cognition. Saw my name in the credits. Fixed Tex Murphy title in my copy of the list.
I remember Black Mirror particularly the ending, but I don't remember much about II.

Edit: just installed Blue Madonna: A Carol Reed Mystery

You should probably replay II first then.
III is Part 2 of II.

You can't go wrong with Carol Reed.

Ran into a problem. Many of those games were download years ago and now most of them don't seem to be on my harddrive anymore. Those from Steam, GOG and Gamersgate I can redownload. But some I'm not sure where they came from, Lost Horizon for example isn't listed in my games on any of those 3 sites.

I think I copied the set up files to a disk. But I haven't found that yet in my stack.

Adventure Shop, which has now shut down, offered Lost Horizon as a digital download - maybe you got it from there?

If you got Lost Horizon from Adventure Shop, finding the installation files won't help unless you're playing on the same computer with the same hard drive and same Windows installation you originally installed it on. The activation server for Adventure Shop is gone.

There was a DVD version you sometimes see at eBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/182444601355

Amazon sells the download for less --> *** link ***
and I see they also sell a "Lost Horizon 2" which I know nothing about.

I can add Tell Tale Games and Phoenix Online as sources for some games.

GOG lists some games I didn't remember, Lure of the Temptress, Dragonsphere, and a couple of shooters. I wouldn't have bought those so they must be freebies.

Turns out I have a user name and password for Adventure Shop so I probably got Lost Horizon and maybe some others from there. cry

Guybrush, check out this thread. You might be able to recover/get some compensation for your Adventure Shop game(s) this way. It's worth a shot.

Finished Black Mirror III. Changing gears to play Edna & Harvey: The Breakout. Probably Blackwell Deception after that.

There is no such thing as coincidence. It is quite rare for me to read the adventure section (looking for a new Siberia). Today, there it is! Guy is telling MY story! I well remember Guy's postings "back in the day" when I lived for a new adventure game. I, too, now follow only the casual game section. Don't know Mr. Guy's age but I believe there are two reasons for MY switch, advancing into REALLY old age and adventure games becoming too far removed from the likes of Grim Fandango, Zork, Obsidian et al.
Thank Heaven I have kept all my old games (well, maybe 20 or so) and feel the spark to load them up again. Not sure there are any newer adventure games that match the simple charm of the "originals". Well, charm isn't the right description. So, Guy, how would YOU describe those earlier adventure games as compared to the newer ones. What is it that made them SO special?
