I have got my copy of 80 days.Hurrah! But I'm a bit mistified about the jumping.I am trying to get up to the 3rd catacomb gate via the rocks. The 1st rock is no problem I just use spacebar and he climbs rather than jumps. The second rock if I try the same action it doesn't work and if I try space+ forward arrow he jumps over the 2nd rock and lands on the floor again. Is there some subtle move I'm missing?I want him to climb rather than jump.Need some help.

Give yourself some inertia. Go back as far as you can, on a straight line to your target. Then run and jump forward. You jump farther. luck

minibramble,

Please use one thread per game. Read the Hints guidelines and the stickied thread by Jenny to familiarize yourself again about the way Hints forum works. Thanks. smile
I edited the title also.

Moira question - Find another way to get to the other side. Look around one flight down and see if there are other way to go there. Check the walkthrough and see if it helps you to get there. luck

I am in Bombay before saving Ravish. I am inside the station, bought the ticket on the train and have to go to Ravish's house, but I can't leave the station. He refuses because of Fix standing in front. I tried back through the window, it didn't work. How can I go out? cry

After buying the ticket, just go back to the window and go out. Position Oliver the right way to make the window active. <img border="0" alt="[holidays]" title="" src="graemlins/holidays.gif" />

Still stuck. I tried every position and angle possible with the green window. Is something wrong with my game? I had no problems with jumping so far...

Have fun with this eye candy. Try just exploring, looking around and then replay to continue. I did that a lot. I also walked-ran only but would try all those transport, then go back to a saved game. I toured each place and looked at buildings, colors and talked with the people. smile

Hi,

I just bought 80 Days and there is no way it will start on my computer. I tried tweaking by uninstalling the game, cleaning up my computer files, defragmenting, and reinstallin the game. I also downloaded their patch. I am able to view the read me file, but the game will not start via the desktop icon, via Play while browsing the cd, or via Run. My HP computer is fairly new with all the available Windows XP updates, Direct X 9c, etc. downloaded. All other new adventure games run on this computer with no problem. (Am presently playing RHem 2, and was just getting 80 Days ready to play next.) Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Bowsel,

If you downloaded any of the demo - delete it.
Then install the game. We've heard about the problems the demo autoplay do to the autoplay of the full game.

If still have problems after doing above - install from the CD by clicking on the setup.exe.

Please keep us posted.

minibramble,

There's like a grill - ledge at front of the train. Move around and see where it's active. Might be the positioning again - go close and back up once - see if that works.

Hi MaG,

No, I never installed the 80 Days demo (or any other demo for that matter). I did install 80 Days from the CD by clicking on the setup.exe. since my computer is not set up to autorun. Even with the patch, the game doesn't work. I just removed everything. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Have tried opening the game from the Apllication (80 Days).exe from - C:\Program Files\Trisynergy\Frogwares\80 Days.

It takes time to process, be sure that you are giving it time to go before moving into another procedure. Once it gets going, it works fine. Also be sure that CD 1 is on the CD drive you installed the game (if you have 2 drives). I play this game with no other program going.

Also be sure that when you installed the game that your antivirus program is off - that affects the installing. If so - uninstall and reinstall.

Please post at Glitches forum, if you have problem after doing this.

You are so right, MaG about eye candy. I also only run now. I tried all other means in the demos and they gave me motion sickness, I enjoyed though an elephant riding around the neighborhood, it was so realistic, ambient sound of voices, laughing...

I LOVE this game except for the climbing/jumping bits.I'm trying to get hold of the rope to go rescue the bird but I just can't make him get his arms out to grab the rope.If I press space and forward he justs jumps forward. If I press run + space + forward he falls off and I hate heights.Anyone got any good advice?
Ever grateful.

Try to just jump with not directional arrow - press space bar while under the right rope.

Two related glitches so far, perhaps, first one:
Jumping/climbing. In the room of ruins in Cairo when you must climb over the slabs of rock to leave the crypt area, I could not get him to climb. He only would jump. I tried over and over. Finally, I went back Otto and got him to show me again how to leave the place and then I went back and immediately was able to climb. I think that the reason I couldn't the first time was possibly cause I had not gone straight from the hint to the climb, but I slept first. Another glitch happened in that same statue ruin area which was worse: suddenly I couldn't walk in any direction but forward, I could not turn, only step left and right or back but always faced in same direction. Finally I had to exit game and ended up having to gather up all the chalices again as a result!!!
Anone else have that happen or is it my cordless mouse acting funky with a game again?

I find jumping too tiresome. Always takes a lot of repeating to finish. Especially it was difficult for me to jump on the overhead beam in the prison.
I am a little stuck now near the giant Buddha. I dropped from the rope on the circle, there are quite a few circles around Buddha. On which one exactly should I step to make him turn? I stepped and walked on every circle and Buddha is still motionless as ...Buddha.
Thanks.

Springchicken,

I find that you have to position yourself to make a jump that gets you through. As for the jail, you have to be one step before the beam to get up.
We all have to try and try before finding that spot.

As for the Buddha by the bridge, there is only one circle on the top of the back wall (where you should be) that you step on. See the minimap and learn that you should be at a level higher than the ground where the Buddha is located.

Sorry - missed your post. That did not happen to me. I personally do not like cordless mouse. They are sluggish or sometimes unreactive for my purpose.

I tried to play the game on my slave cd my bottom one and It kept taking me back to my desktop, so I put the cd in my master drive the top one and it played fine. Hope this helps. The only thing I don't like about the game is the saves. I like to save when I choose.

Mini, go back to the door to the fire escape. Look for a door on your right (I think) and click to open it. There is clothing on a peg on the wall. Click on it and Oliver will change clothes. Then you can continue.

Hi Springchicken, yes the secret room is in the basement. Look on the wall with the giant fan. When you activate the tile that fan opens up to reveal the secret room. I found this game to be just a little frustrating in that you have to wait so long for a scene to materialize. After stepping on the tile turn around to face the fan and wait.

Hi Kay, thank you for your response. Nothing changed with me. I repeated again, had to start from the previous save which was 3 Buddhas back and the same thing, I stepped, turned facing the wall with the fan with 7 Buddhas and waited... Btw, according to the WT there should be saving right before this scene - I didn't get it either.May be it's some glitch in my game?

Just a thought, is Oliver dressed in the Samurai warrior uniform? If not, he should be and maybe that is the problem. If he is then I'm not sure what the problem is. I can send you my save with the secret room open if you want to try and use it. It was captured as soon as the fan opened. Let me know what you would like to do.

Cleo,

Are you using the shift key on the left? Maybe a reboot would help.

Also check the options and see if any of the keys were changed.

Oh boy am I stuck! I'm out on the side of the airship, and I'm trying to rescue this horrid bird, and I jump up on the rope and hang there...Really! I just hang there! eek

I don't know if this is a glitch or if I missed something...I've had some pretty funny ones already, but not when I'm hanging up so high! lol

If it's a glitch I guess I'll be looking for a save game...

Use the S or the W key to get you moving. Some have used the arrow keys - both works. It takes time for the movement to happen - so just wait a bit. He will move forward to the zeron.

Try the other directional keys. Maybe he is not pointed correctly to where the bird is located. Move the mouse to get a different perspective to his position.

Looney,

Are you following the sequence of the wt? If so, I have can send you save point 8 of the Zeppelin.
I really didn't have problem here. I jumped to the rope. Used W and S to move to the bird. Get it automatically and went back to solid roof of the zeppelin.

think - use shift w and/or S. See if that works.

I thought flying the airship was the best bit.I was a bit worried as it was night and I couldn't see anything. But as day broke I suddenly caught up with the others.I guess I could have had a smoother landing. It was so enjoyable I wanted to do it again

That's great, looney.

Minibramble - had to redo that since I overshot the Leviathan and couldn't go down to its level. Ugh! My landing was done verrrry slowly. lol

Cleo,

While standing on the right edge of the window I used spacebar + W on this part. Be sure that you moved close to the wall and then jump up.

Again - position him correctly and it will work. Have fun.

Cleo, Have you talked to the baddie when you got inside the house? If not, look for him and see if you 2 can have a conversation first before you go down to the basement.

Hi Kay,
I see Cleo has the same problem in the basement as I had, it looks like a glitch to me.

Cleo, the saves are pictures (jpg files). If you followed my instructions it should work for you. Replaying from your last save may help with this problem. I hope so. Also please read the Adventure Game Hints at the top of the Hints forum for additional information.

Cleo, one more thought, when you get Oliver to stand on the hilighted tile look down and make sure both feet are on the tile. This game is really fussy about positioning.

Hi Riceburner,

Cleo4's computer tutor here... I've looked at the directions you sent her. She has followed them to the letter. I have repeated them - twice. The results are not in question. The saved game tile does not appear when restarting the game and trying to load. Cleo4 does have to start three Buddhas back - all over again.

Here's the rub... Cleo meets fix, no problem. He tells her there's nothing in the house, no problem. Neither the save point or the 50 points ever appears, Problem!!!

You sent her Yokohama7.jpg - which I understand is supposed to represent the "Save Point." However, when she, or I, perform the save as you explained and reopen the game, the Yokahama7.jpg tile is not available to reload from that point. It's just not there. The only one that shows up is Yohohama6.jpg.

So, the nutshell version:

1 - we save according to your directions

2 - we restart the game

3 - we choose load

4 - Yokohama7.jpg isn't there

What do you think has to happen next? Do the programmer's need to come up with a new patch?

We appreciate all your help so far and hope you can still offer some suggestions.

Thanks Very Much

Cleo's tutor,

While waiting for Rice Burner - check to be sure that you have placed the saved game 7 inside the C:\Program Files\Trisynergy\Frogwares\80 Days\game folder.

If so and still no go, replay the to the point after Fix. Go down to the basement and look around. Stand by the entry way - look inside the room and pan around. Check for a position that you should see an active spot at the very center tile on the floor. That is where you should stand.
I think this is a positioning problem again.

I will try to get a picture to show.

Good morning Cleo's tutor. Thank you for helping. I know this problem is frustrating. When you put my save into the games folder is it in picture form or text form? Are the other saves in text or picture form? They should be the same, either text or picture. When you start the game and go to the 'load' option if my save is there you will see Oliver with uniform on looking into the secret room. Do you see a picture like that? I can send you another save if you think its necessary. Hopefully MaG's picture will help.

Hi MaG,

It looks like we have a corruption in Yokohama_6.jpg now on top of everything else. We're getting "game.exe" and subsequent "kernel.dll" errors as well when trying to reload from Yokohama_6.jpg. Loading from Y_5.jpg is successful.

Can you send a copy of the Y_6.jpg file. Perhaps deleting the existing copy and replacing it with a known good one will help.

Would you mind sending Y_7.jpg as well. I have turned off virus checking temporarily to see if this may have been a problem.

Thanks,

Cleo4

Thanks Riceburner,

Yes, the files are all in JPG format and the properties of the files are all identical. If you wouldn't mind sending along a copy of 6 and 7 I'd like to give it one more try.

Thanks again!

I replayed and looked for the best position to see the active tile. I can see the active tile at 3 pts in the room - one from entryway, one from right wall and one from back wall.

This picture is when:
Stand close to the middle back wall facing the fan with the 7 Buddha. Look down and step on the activated tile at the center of the floor.

Good luck.

Hi all!
Cleo, I had exactly the same problem with the tile and I used the saved file Kay sent to me. Here is a little trick. The new file goes in your game folder not as a last saved frame but according to the date when it was saved by Kay and this date is as I remember Dec. 25th. So when you open your Load in the game scroll back to that date and you'll find the new save. Hope this will help.
Good luck

Could somebody please send me the save just before or the beginning of Zeppelin to go to San Francisco or if not then save point Yokohama 8 with Zeppelin? Thank you

Springchicken,

The saved game is on the way. Scroll to look for it on load page. Once you see it, load and then save again to make it go forward on the load page. luck

Hi Kay and MaG and Happy New Year!
Thanks a lot MaG for the save, it works fine and I am in the Zeppelin. I don't think it's possible to move your save forward, we don't have an active saving capacity, if I exit and load again, it still will be in the back, so I just moved to the next saving point.
thanks

I just finished the refueling and am in the little zepplin trying to find the Leviathan - seems like I have been flying for ages. I had the light blue then green arrow and then I lost it. I am not sure what I have done wrong but I can't find the Leviathan now! Any hints as to which way I go and how long I have to fly after I leave the other ship? Thanks!

It should be straight ahead and maybe a little higher. Maybe a little to the left, but mainly straight ahead when you start out Dudemom.

It shouldn't take more than a minute to catch up.

The manuvering is the tricky part!

Good luck!

Ok. I got some sleep and thought I would be able to do this easily... I have caught up with the Leviathan and have manuvered so that I am parallel with where I am suppose to be left side empty spot) but I am too high and I can't get lower so I can dock! Any suggestions? It was easier to do the jump and climb to get the darned pigeon!

Try going a little ahead of Leviathin and then wait for it to catch up. The game should take over the docking when you are over the correct location.

Thanks! I tried it again and got just ahead of the Leviathan but had the red arrow and finally a red box and I thought I was a bit too high when it suddenly grabbed it and docked! What a pain in the patootie! However, I am getting more and more intrigued by this game. Every time I surmount one obstacle I feel great and want to get to the next task. This game was certainly worth the city wide hunt for it! Thanks to the one EB store in my city who carried it and thanks to the clerk who set it aside till I got there!

Hi all, wave
I wish this game would never end and it looks like I can reach this goal, because every time I have to jump somewhere it takes hours to finish.
Now in San Francisco I need to jump from a crate to the broken fire escape and I am getting tired and bored. Please give me some hint about exact Oliver's position on the crate? Meanwhile I am just enjoying roaming the long streets of San Francisco in this cute racing car. rolleyes

Springchicken,

I usually go as close to the wall, then at the same time press on space bar and forward arrow or W.
If that doesn't work - I back up one step from being close to the wall and do the spacebar/forward.

Yokohama save 7 is after finding the Buddhas and Yokohama 8 save is before the talk with Yoko at the hotel.
There are no saves after that.
You get the transport ticket at end of the Yokohama part.
So where are you now and are you having a problem getting the ticket?

I'm sorry,

don't mean to be confusing...
I did everything just fine, the only problem that I have is that I've already ridden the boat, I need to be able to purchase a ticket for the zepplin to go on to San Fransisco.
Can you help MaG?

Thanks,

That took a while for me too.
To go up I change the point of view to be lower (so I'm looking up) and then go forward to go up and did the reverse to go down.
What worked for me on landing the zeppelin is to try and I mean try... to be level with the wing pad.
Then move forward or backward as slowly as I can until it clank to show that it is attached.

Hi MaG and Cleo,

Through experimentation I found this valuable tidbit:

- Hit the SHIFT key (the same one that makes you run) while going FORWARD in the zeppelin and you will rise quickly.

- Hit the SPACEBAR as you go FORWARD and the zeppelin will drop!

I can't remember if it will just drop and rise with those buttons if you are not going forward...I think it does (I got over the docking spot and just hit SPACEBAR to drop to the correct level).

Try it!

UGH! I made it all the way to the schooner boat, and when I started to break up the ship for fuel I got the dreaded "Sorry, you did not make it in 80 days! Please try again".

I am not sure how far back I will have to go to replay and gain back a few of thos lost days (from when I ran out of energy and woke up in the street with half an energy load). My sense is that I am about one day short, so maybe I won't have to go back too far.

Grrrr.

Thanks. I replayed from the most recent spot and it failed the same way a couple times. I'll go back one more.

Cheers,

OK, I got it. Thanks, Marita.

The failure was due to the puzzle of feeding the fire in the boiler, not because I didn't make it in 80 days. You have to be quick with the first pile of wood to keep the fire from going below the red line, then quickly continue busting up the ship for wood for the boiler.

I really liked the game. Truly funny dialog, beautiful scenery, nice 3D engine, easy puzzles (which allows for more exploration than mind-bending struggles - my preference).

Hello,
I had hot spot trouble also.I waited for the game freeze where it accesses the cd-rom for awhile and loads stuff, and then the hot-spots were there.I also dont think there is any paticular game point for these freeze-loads,they seem to be random, almost on a time schedule rather than a game point schedule. If I am right ,just wait it out until this happens. My trouble was the hot spot for the planks on the way back from the island budda.

Ok, how fast did you go in Yokohama in the gas rikshaw? I spun around several times because I went too fast on a turn!

Which is your favorite mode of transportation. I think the magic carpet was hands down the most fun to ride.

I am finally on the ship and finished bartending, now to wandering the ship.....

I liked the wheel in which you sat in the middle of the wheel.

Yes, it was fun to hit the shift key and really get the speed up!

Hey guys,

Finally, I've been away doing other things, never a got a chance to finish the game until a couple of days ago, I'm at the very end, can't get the wood in the furnace fast enough... I was almost tempted to just walk away but I've put so much time into it I don't dare, can someone send me a saved at this point so that I can atleast get the story?

Thanks again,
Cleo4 thanks

The last saved point of 80 Days is the start at the sloop. To see the end, this sloop-furnace puzzle has to be finished. I'm sorry.

Try to get the closest planks to the furnace first so that you can accumulate more time to get the farther ones. You can do it - takes lots of patience and huffing and puffing. luck

I am at the spot with the Gold Buddha. I have a mental blank with this one. I saw a diagram with the lines drawn on the stones in a walkthrough. But, the arrows go both ways. Which stones go on which posts? Is there any special order? Help! Thanks.

Hi Laurette, the stones do go in certain places and you will only use two of them. I used the side stones to guide me with this puzzle. Match the second stone up from the bottom on the left side of the stones in front of you.....should be two complete lines with a break in the line at the bottom that you will place on the left column as you face it. The stone for the right column has the broken line at the rop and two solid lines under it. Match it to the top line of stones, third from the left.
Good luck

It's not that hard of a puzzle if you look for the symbol that you saw on the rock. There's just a lot going on and that makes it confusing.
Good luck!
Oh, be sure to wait a few seconds after you place the stones to see if there is a cut scene of the bridge coming down.

I am very near the end trying to lower the small steam ferry at the back of the Big ship. The right derrick puzzle went ok but the left puzzle is doing weird stuff. When i click on it I can only see 6 0f the 9 tiles of the right pattern, therefore i dont know what color 3 of them are so I cant finish the puzzle. Also my mouse slows down and moves erratically around.I think i am into some kind of serious bug. What do I do now? I am so close to the end!

Geo,

Try closing the program, do a hard boot (that is tunr off the computer completely - not restart, wait a bit, then turn on the computer again) close all other background things and/or play with the options to see which one helps.

Also when doing the puzzle, do it slowly.
The next save is at the sloop part already and you will miss some stuff. frown
If you want that saved game - holler.

hello,
I already tried all those hints.I cant do the puzzle slowly if I cant see part of it.I dont think I need a save unless there is something spectacular at the end I will miss.

Leeana,

If you still need help:
1. Go left of hotel and right after the building with elephant towards Bollywood - see the GPAK member hidden in front of entrance - to the right.
2. Go back to hotel and go forward pass the hotel. Turn right at next intersection where the policeman is standing. Go forward, cross the bridge and a see the GPAK member before the arch and the station.
3. Go back, turn around and cross the bridge again. Turn left where another policeman is tanding. To the left of policeman is a door and left of that is another GPAK member.
4. Turn left and continue pass the arch and see another policeman at the corner. Go pass him and enter the entrnace to be inside the elephant square. Left of entrance is another GPAK member. He is standing left of the wooden bridge to the forest. luck

Hi Leeana, that is a fun puzzle. If you dropped from the rope onto the backdrop to the Buddha and then walked over to the round area and stood on it--have you tried dropping to the ground and going on--Could the Buddha have moved a little but not turned all the way around? I know some of them did not do a complete flip? luck

Leeana,

Let's review since the next save point will make you miss another Buddha search.

You do the hand over hand on the stretched rope.
Look down and see a circle at the topmost part of the Buddha backdrop.
Drop down to land on the top of the backdrop, higher than the Buddha.
Then go to the circle - a position tweak is needed here - turn around, move forward, back a bit and the Buddha should turn.

Try that and I also send you Yokohama 6. luck

Leeana,

That picture IS the saved game - Yokohama 6. Download it and place it in the save folder of 80 Days. Then scroll the load of the game to look for it and play. Check the walkthrough and see where Yokohama 6 save is located for you to know what was skipped.

I'm sorry you are having so many glitches. For the most part, the game is playing well for me. I think I am the biggest problem!

Hi Leeana. I haven't had any glitches with this game....other than the brain[my own problems] glitches. I have walked/run to all places so far. I'm just letting him sleep in the streets. That's pathetic but he's slept halfway up a ladder. Guess Oliver doesn't mind either.

Geo,
I had the same problem and managed to get past it by changing the game resolution (in the game setup) to the absolute lowest (I think it was 640 x Something) resolution. This allowed me to see the whole puzzle. I also lowered all of my options (shadows, anti-aliasing, etc.) just for good measure and to speedup lag time in response. After the puzzle is finished you can go back to the higher resolution if desired. Hope this helps. If you need the specific resolution reply and I'll go get it.

MaG,
If you wouldn't mind, could you also please send me the same saved games (I am dexteriy challenged and don't have enough time earned to get enough wood into the fire to see the endgame)?

Thank you,
pd

Love well and live as if tomorrow wasn't another day.

I would love to, pd BUT there are no saved available at the endgame. You have to go through the wood-furnace puzzle.

My strategy were:
- after getting the axe - get the wood as I turned to go to the furnace.
- Place the take planks on furnace.
- turn and get the nearest planks - place in furnace.
- accumulate more seconds by clearing the wood around the furnace and then go to get the farther ones. luck

If I can do it (I'm a mess on this type of puzzle) - you can do it. Took me ~6 tries.

Leeana, don't cry.

Let's see:
Open your My Computer.
Open your C drive.
Open your Program Files folder.
Open your Trisynergy folder.
Open the Frogwares folder.
Open the 80 Days folder.
Open the game folder. You will see a lot of pictures.

Now back to the sent saved game picture. Download that to desktop.
Click-hold drop that file to the open game folder to join the other pictures.

Close all folders.
Load the game as usual.
Scroll to the beginning of the load picture using the left green dot.
The saved game might be at the very beginning since the saved games are loaded by dates.

Leeana,

The resolution fix will only help resolve a problem with viewing the whole puzzle (of one of the last three puzzles) for lowering the left side of the sloop. Some people can only see 6 of the 9 tiles of the right pattern where they don't know what color 3 of them are so they can't finish the puzzle. If this is what you need to do here is a step by step fix:

1. Pull up the menu and select "Options"
2. Go to resolution and select "1024 X 768" (my earlier message suggested 640 x ? which is going the wrong way...MY BAD - my dislexic brain goofed on that one. Sorry!)
3. For good measure (and because the higher resolution draws harder on your resources) I also shut down several options such as anti-aliasing, shadows, and lowered my graphics & texture to the lowest setting. This really helped some of the slow lag time problems.
4. Once the settings are set, hit the "accept" button.
5. Then hit the back button and then resume your game.

After you have completed this puzzle you can restore your prior settings and continue as before.

Hope this helps!
pd

MaG,
Thanks for the advice...I thought that each player would have earned extra time at the end based on how well and quickly they had played up to the end because my time is SO short at the end I can barely get back to the furnace with one load before I'm deemed a bad nephew (which I must say is a new one on me...now "bad" at anything else I'll grant them, but it'll take some "work" before I'm a nephew). I'm gonna give it another shot...hmm, I wonder if I leave the settings as is after my left sloop puzzle through the end & shut down my subtitles to boot if that might speed up my response time. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks!
pd

Leana

I played through a part from a save for someone--in order to get that save to show in my load screen, I had to create a temporary folder and move my other saves out, leaving just the one I wanted--

I don't know that will work, but it did for me-- luck

Leeana,
Don't give up. It should be the very first in the load screens. Use the green button on the left of the pictures to scroll to the beginning. This Yokohama will be separated from the others if the saved game is placed in the correct folder. luck

Leeana the big Buddha by the red bridge doesn't turn around. You need to climb up on the bridge railing and get on the rope and hand over hand[using the rope] go to the big stone behind him. The button you need to push for this one is at the very top of the stone.

Leena have you turned anti-aliasing and all those other things off in your game options? Have you turned off all other programs in the background? I'm not positive but I think this is one that he pushes down with his hands.

Leeana,

I just replayed this part twice. Hand over hand on that rope.
One way other than jumping right on the green lit circle and then clicking is ------
Jump down on the side - not on the very top.
This would make Oliver slightly lower than the circle. Then, make that circle light up.
Click then and Oliver will walk and press the button and the Buddha turns.
See if that works for you.

Try left mouse click when you see the green lit circle no matter where you are (above, to the side of circle) and see what happens.

Have you tried restoring all settings to default? I ask because doing so solved someone else's strange glitch--though at a different spot-- luck

Hi,
Am trying to rescue the bird and having no luck I checked MaGs walkthrough. So I know I have to crouch to move across the top of the airship. But even though I do that I can't get past the overhang - I just get stuck, like its a barrier you can't cross. I had thought originally this meant I couldn't go this way, but having checked, it seems I am at the right spot.
Am I missing something?? Or am I indeed at the wrong spot?

Hi Flotsam, try moving Oliver right or left a little to see if it will help in getting past the overhang. With the 3D its very picky about placement.

ok got it, after much fussing and fiddling.
Then he got stuck on the rope and wouldn't move, or get off; he was sort of hanging in midair on nothing.
Its certainly has its little glitches - I now have a failed mission message that won't leave the screen.

Flotsam after you exit that sideways carrier thing it should be the first area that you come to, second door on the left I believe. I don't remember if I needed a key or not but you should have the master keys in inventory still.
Please stay with your original thread for this game.
Good luck

Is this one of those notoriously fickle hotspots? Can't seem to open any doors with keys in my "hand".
And where is the hotspot for the kilts on the front of the train. Am standing with my nose touching the front grill but no luck. Which bit is supposed to light up??
Thanks again.

Hi flotsam,

You might need to change your point of view to see the green active spot in front of the train.

As for the keys on door, have you tried moving around (again positioning) to get a green highlight on the keyhole or lock? Oliver is sooo picky!

Talk about being silly - I was looking up trying to hang them like a sail, and all I had to do was look down!
Am now riding an elephant. What happens if you fall off; can you climb back on? I ask, cos I am currently jumping up and down beneath the elephant, having done exactly that blush

Flotsam I don't think you can actually fall off the elephant but you may have clicked your mouse and gotten off. Are you stuck under him? I'm sorry, but that is just such an amazing image. See if he'll go into a crouch and get back on top where he belongs.

Flotsam - I did the same thing but was too embarressed to post.
You know a man never asks for directions until he is hopeless lost. lol
As Sue says crouch and depending where you are strafe right or left with your D or A keys.
Aren't you glad this isn't real life. wave

Retired, just curious, how did you end up under the elephant? Is it possible to fall off? Oliver went to sleep on his back for me but managed to stay on.

No I didn't fall off - I got off - to walk around to find the levers - I hit the X key by mistake as I started to walk and ended up under him.

Yep, clicked and came off, then tried to treat him like a ladder (walk real close and jump). Somewhere in there I crouched and here I am, underneath.
Glad to hear I wasn't the only one Retired!!
