minibramble, Please use one thread per game. Read the Hints guidelines and the stickied thread by Jenny to familiarize yourself again about the way Hints forum works. Thanks. I edited the title also. Moira question - Find another way to get to the other side. Look around one flight down and see if there are other way to go there. Check the walkthrough and see if it helps you to get there.

I am in Bombay before saving Ravish. I am inside the station, bought the ticket on the train and have to go to Ravish's house, but I can't leave the station. He refuses because of Fix standing in front. I tried back through the window, it didn't work. How can I go out? <img border="0" alt="[Christmas]" title="" src="graemlins/Christmas.gif" />

Still stuck. I tried every position and angle possible with the green window. Is something wrong with my game? I had no problems with jumping so far...

Hi, I just bought 80 Days and there is no way it will start on my computer. I tried tweaking by uninstalling the game, cleaning up my computer files, defragmenting, and reinstallin the game. I also downloaded their patch. I am able to view the read me file, but the game will not start via the desktop icon, via Play while browsing the cd, or via Run. My HP computer is fairly new with all the available Windows XP updates, Direct X 9c, etc. downloaded. All other new adventure games run on this computer with no problem. (Am presently playing RHem 2, and was just getting 80 Days ready to play next.) Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Bowsel

You are so right, MaG about eye candy. I also only run now. I tried all other means in the demos and they gave me motion sickness, I enjoyed though an elephant riding around the neighborhood, it was so realistic, ambient sound of voices, laughing...

I find jumping too tiresome. Always takes a lot of repeating to finish. Especially it was difficult for me to jump on the overhead beam in the prison. I am a little stuck now near the giant Buddha. I dropped from the rope on the circle, there are quite a few circles around Buddha. On which one exactly should I step to make him turn? I stepped and walked on every circle and Buddha is still motionless as ...Buddha. Thanks.

I tried to play the game on my slave cd my bottom one and It kept taking me back to my desktop, so I put the cd in my master drive the top one and it played fine. Hope this helps. The only thing I don't like about the game is the saves. I like to save when I choose. Richard

Mini, go back to the door to the fire escape. Look for a door on your right (I think) and click to open it. There is clothing on a peg on the wall. Click on it and Oliver will change clothes. Then you can continue. Kay

Hi Springchicken, yes the secret room is in the basement. Look on the wall with the giant fan. When you activate the tile that fan opens up to reveal the secret room. I found this game to be just a little frustrating in that you have to wait so long for a scene to materialize. After stepping on the tile turn around to face the fan and wait. Kay

Hi Kay, thank you for your response. Nothing changed with me. I repeated again, had to start from the previous save which was 3 Buddhas back and the same thing, I stepped, turned facing the wall with the fan with 7 Buddhas and waited... Btw, according to the WT there should be saving right before this scene - I didn't get it either.May be it's some glitch in my game?

Just a thought, is Oliver dressed in the Samurai warrior uniform? If not, he should be and maybe that is the problem. If he is then I'm not sure what the problem is. I can send you my save with the secret room open if you want to try and use it. It was captured as soon as the fan opened. Let me know what you would like to do. Kay

Kay, Yes and yes, Oliver is dressed as a Samurai and I was going to ask for the save, so please send me yours. Thanks a lot for your help. In spite of all these troubles I am enjoying this colorful game.

Oh boy am I stuck! I'm out on the side of the airship, and I'm trying to rescue this horrid bird, and I jump up on the rope and hang there...Really! I just hang there! I don't know if this is a glitch or if I missed something...I've had some pretty funny ones already, but not when I'm hanging up so high! If it's a glitch I guess I'll be looking for a save game...

Looney, Are you following the sequence of the wt? If so, I have can send you save point 8 of the Zeppelin. I really didn't have problem here. I jumped to the rope. Used W and S to move to the bird. Get it automatically and went back to solid roof of the zeppelin. - use shift w and/or S. See if that works.

Cleo, the saves are pictures (jpg files). If you followed my instructions it should work for you. Replaying from your last save may help with this problem. I hope so. Also please read the Adventure Game Hints at the top of the Hints forum for additional information. Kay

Cleo, one more thought, when you get Oliver to stand on the hilighted tile look down and make sure both feet are on the tile. This game is really fussy about positioning. Kay

Good morning Cleo's tutor. Thank you for helping. I know this problem is frustrating. When you put my save into the games folder is it in picture form or text form? Are the other saves in text or picture form? They should be the same, either text or picture. When you start the game and go to the 'load' option if my save is there you will see Oliver with uniform on looking into the secret room. Do you see a picture like that? I can send you another save if you think its necessary. Hopefully MaG's picture will help. Kay

I replayed and looked for the best position to see the active tile. I can see the active tile at 3 pts in the room - one from entryway, one from right wall and one from back wall. This picture is when: Stand close to the middle back wall facing the fan with the 7 Buddha. Look down and step on the activated tile at the center of the floor. Good luck.

Hi all! Cleo, I had exactly the same problem with the tile and I used the saved file Kay sent to me. Here is a little trick. The new file goes in your game folder not as a last saved frame but according to the date when it was saved by Kay and this date is as I remember Dec. 25th. So when you open your Load in the game scroll back to that date and you'll find the new save. Hope this will help. Good luck

Now I have my own problem. In the saved game I used the only available transportation left is a ship but I traveled by ship and need now Zeppelin. Could somebody please send me the save just before or the beginning of Zeppelin to go to San Francisco or if not then save point Yokohama 8 with Zeppelin? Thank you

Hi Kay and MaG and Happy New Year! Thanks a lot MaG for the save, it works fine and I am in the Zeppelin. I don't think it's possible to move your save forward, we don't have an active saving capacity, if I exit and load again, it still will be in the back, so I just moved to the next saving point.

It should be straight ahead and maybe a little higher. Maybe a little to the left, but mainly straight ahead when you start out Dudemom. It shouldn't take more than a minute to catch up. The manuvering is the tricky part! Good luck! joe

Ok. I got some sleep and thought I would be able to do this easily... I have caught up with the Leviathan and have manuvered so that I am parallel with where I am suppose to be left side empty spot) but I am too high and I can't get lower so I can dock! Any suggestions? It was easier to do the jump and climb to get the darned pigeon!

Try going a little ahead of Leviathin and then wait for it to catch up. The game should take over the docking when you are over the correct location. Kay

Thanks! I tried it again and got just ahead of the Leviathan but had the red arrow and finally a red box and I thought I was a bit too high when it suddenly grabbed it and docked! What a pain in the patootie! However, I am getting more and more intrigued by this game. Every time I surmount one obstacle I feel great and want to get to the next task. This game was certainly worth the city wide hunt for it! Thanks to the one EB store in my city who carried it and thanks to the clerk who set it aside till I got there!

Hi all, I wish this game would never end and it looks like I can reach this goal, because every time I have to jump somewhere it takes hours to finish. Now in San Francisco I need to jump from a crate to the broken fire escape and I am getting tired and bored. Please give me some hint about exact Oliver's position on the crate? Meanwhile I am just enjoying roaming the long streets of San Francisco in this cute racing car.

OK, I got it. Thanks, Marita.
The failure was due to the puzzle of feeding the fire in the boiler, not because I didn't make it in 80 days. You have to be quick with the first pile of wood to keep the fire from going below the red line, then quickly continue busting up the ship for wood for the boiler.
I really liked the game. Truly funny dialog, beautiful scenery, nice 3D engine, easy puzzles (which allows for more exploration than mind-bending struggles - my preference).

Ok, how fast did you go in Yokohama in the gas rikshaw? I spun around several times because I went too fast on a turn!
Which is your favorite mode of transportation. I think the magic carpet was hands down the most fun to ride.
I am finally on the ship and finished bartending, now to wandering the ship.....

Hey guys, Finally, I've been away doing other things, never a got a chance to finish the game until a couple of days ago, I'm at the very end, can't get the wood in the furnace fast enough... I was almost tempted to just walk away but I've put so much time into it I don't dare, can someone send me a saved at this point so that I can atleast get the story? Thanks again, Cleo4

I am at the spot with the Gold Buddha. I have a mental blank with this one. I saw a diagram with the lines drawn on the stones in a walkthrough. But, the arrows go both ways. Which stones go on which posts? Is there any special order? Help! Thanks.

Hi Laurette, the stones do go in certain places and you will only use two of them. I used the side stones to guide me with this puzzle. Match the second stone up from the bottom on the left side of the stones in front of you.....should be two complete lines with a break in the line at the bottom that you will place on the left column as you face it. The stone for the right column has the broken line at the rop and two solid lines under it. Match it to the top line of stones, third from the left. Good luck

It's not that hard of a puzzle if you look for the symbol that you saw on the rock. There's just a lot going on and that makes it confusing. Good luck! Oh, be sure to wait a few seconds after you place the stones to see if there is a cut scene of the bridge coming down.

Geo, Try closing the program, do a hard boot (that is tunr off the computer completely - not restart, wait a bit, then turn on the computer again) close all other background things and/or play with the options to see which one helps. Also when doing the puzzle, do it slowly. The next save is at the sloop part already and you will miss some stuff. If you want that saved game - holler.

Leeana, If you still need help: 1. Go left of hotel and right after the building with elephant towards Bollywood - see the GPAK member hidden in front of entrance - to the right. 2. Go back to hotel and go forward pass the hotel. Turn right at next intersection where the policeman is standing. Go forward, cross the bridge and a see the GPAK member before the arch and the station. 3. Go back, turn around and cross the bridge again. Turn left where another policeman is tanding. To the left of policeman is a door and left of that is another GPAK member. 4. Turn left and continue pass the arch and see another policeman at the corner. Go pass him and enter the entrnace to be inside the elephant square. Left of entrance is another GPAK member. He is standing left of the wooden bridge to the forest.

Hello Mag Im back yes it is a fun Game if You could just give me a nudge it would be great, eighter you or a gameboomer here who is up to Yokohama, If no one is up to this part I will be Patient and wait, Im stuck at the; Find the seven Buddha, Ive found the one buy the house, I also found the one by the Red Bridge. Ive dropped the wood attached to the rope and also climbed the railing and slid with my hands with the rope towards the stone that Im suppose to stand, behind the buddahs back My problem is, that Im standing on the stone thats now pushed in, But Buddha does not Budge! Ive re-tried and re-tried and kept re-loading the save, thinking I did something wrong but its just that Buddha does not turn so anyone when you come up to this part, Pretty Please, let me know how you did it? Mag I read your WT to the "T" and Im at a dead end right now! if you could Please Help me if you can, Thank You all. Im forever grateful that there is a gameboomer place to turn to

Leeana, Let's review since the next save point will make you miss another Buddha search. You do the hand over hand on the stretched rope. Look down and see a circle at the topmost part of the Buddha backdrop. Drop down to land on the top of the backdrop, higher than the Buddha. Then go to the circle - a position tweak is needed here - turn around, move forward, back a bit and the Buddha should turn. Try that and I also send you Yokohama 6.

Leeana please don't feel stupid. How would you know if you didn't ask? I couldn't find the people selling flowers in Yokohama....... I'm sorry you are having so many glitches. For the most part, the game is playing well for me. I think I am the biggest problem! Sue

Hi Leeana. I haven't had any glitches with this game....other than the brain[my own problems] glitches. I have walked/run to all places so far. I'm just letting him sleep in the streets. That's pathetic but he's slept halfway up a ladder. Guess Oliver doesn't mind either. Sue

Geo, I had the same problem and managed to get past it by changing the game resolution (in the game setup) to the absolute lowest (I think it was 640 x Something) resolution. This allowed me to see the whole puzzle. I also lowered all of my options (shadows, anti-aliasing, etc.) just for good measure and to speedup lag time in response. After the puzzle is finished you can go back to the higher resolution if desired. Hope this helps. If you need the specific resolution reply and I'll go get it.
MaG, If you wouldn't mind, could you also please send me the same saved games (I am dexteriy challenged and don't have enough time earned to get enough wood into the fire to see the endgame)?
Thank you, pd
Love well and live as if tomorrow wasn't another day.

I would love to, pd BUT there are no saved available at the endgame. You have to go through the wood-furnace puzzle. My strategy were: - after getting the axe - get the wood as I turned to go to the furnace. - Place the take planks on furnace. - turn and get the nearest planks - place in furnace. - accumulate more seconds by clearing the wood around the furnace and then go to get the farther ones. If I can do it (I'm a mess on this type of puzzle) - you can do it. Took me ~6 tries.

Leeana,
The resolution fix will only help resolve a problem with viewing the whole puzzle (of one of the last three puzzles) for lowering the left side of the sloop. Some people can only see 6 of the 9 tiles of the right pattern where they don't know what color 3 of them are so they can't finish the puzzle. If this is what you need to do here is a step by step fix:
1. Pull up the menu and select "Options" 2. Go to resolution and select "1024 X 768" (my earlier message suggested 640 x ? which is going the wrong way...MY BAD - my dislexic brain goofed on that one. Sorry!) 3. For good measure (and because the higher resolution draws harder on your resources) I also shut down several options such as anti-aliasing, shadows, and lowered my graphics & texture to the lowest setting. This really helped some of the slow lag time problems. 4. Once the settings are set, hit the "accept" button. 5. Then hit the back button and then resume your game.
After you have completed this puzzle you can restore your prior settings and continue as before.
Hope this helps! pd
MaG, Thanks for the advice...I thought that each player would have earned extra time at the end based on how well and quickly they had played up to the end because my time is SO short at the end I can barely get back to the furnace with one load before I'm deemed a bad nephew (which I must say is a new one on me...now "bad" at anything else I'll grant them, but it'll take some "work" before I'm a nephew). I'm gonna give it another shot...hmm, I wonder if I leave the settings as is after my left sloop puzzle through the end & shut down my subtitles to boot if that might speed up my response time. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks! pd
Love well and live as if tomorrow wasn't another day.

Leana I played through a part from a save for someone--in order to get that save to show in my load screen, I had to create a temporary folder and move my other saves out, leaving just the one I wanted-- I don't know that will work, but it did for me--

Leeana the big Buddha by the red bridge doesn't turn around. You need to climb up on the bridge railing and get on the rope and hand over hand[using the rope] go to the big stone behind him. The button you need to push for this one is at the very top of the stone.

Leena have you turned anti-aliasing and all those other things off in your game options? Have you turned off all other programs in the background? I'm not positive but I think this is one that he pushes down with his hands.

Hi, Am trying to rescue the bird and having no luck I checked MaGs walkthrough. So I know I have to crouch to move across the top of the airship. But even though I do that I can't get past the overhang - I just get stuck, like its a barrier you can't cross. I had thought originally this meant I couldn't go this way, but having checked, it seems I am at the right spot. Am I missing something?? Or am I indeed at the wrong spot?

Hi Flotsam, try moving Oliver right or left a little to see if it will help in getting past the overhang. With the 3D its very picky about placement. Kay

ok got it, after much fussing and fiddling. Then he got stuck on the rope and wouldn't move, or get off; he was sort of hanging in midair on nothing. Its certainly has its little glitches - I now have a failed mission message that won't leave the screen.

Flotsam after you exit that sideways carrier thing it should be the first area that you come to, second door on the left I believe. I don't remember if I needed a key or not but you should have the master keys in inventory still. Please stay with your original thread for this game. Good luck

Is this one of those notoriously fickle hotspots? Can't seem to open any doors with keys in my "hand". And where is the hotspot for the kilts on the front of the train. Am standing with my nose touching the front grill but no luck. Which bit is supposed to light up?? Thanks again.

Hi flotsam, You might need to change your point of view to see the green active spot in front of the train. As for the keys on door, have you tried moving around (again positioning) to get a green highlight on the keyhole or lock? Oliver is sooo picky!

Talk about being silly - I was looking up trying to hang them like a sail, and all I had to do was look down! Am now riding an elephant. What happens if you fall off; can you climb back on? I ask, cos I am currently jumping up and down beneath the elephant, having done exactly that

Flotsam I don't think you can actually fall off the elephant but you may have clicked your mouse and gotten off. Are you stuck under him? I'm sorry, but that is just such an amazing image. See if he'll go into a crouch and get back on top where he belongs. Sue

Flotsam - I did the same thing but was too embarressed to post. You know a man never asks for directions until he is hopeless lost. As Sue says crouch and depending where you are strafe right or left with your D or A keys. Aren't you glad this isn't real life.

Retired, just curious, how did you end up under the elephant? Is it possible to fall off? Oliver went to sleep on his back for me but managed to stay on.
