I will have to go to a friends house to download this as it would take me 2 weeks with my download speed...lol...this is one reason I like disc's not downloads.

Wow, some very hefty video requirements too. What video card do you have, Rob?

The download itself wouldn't be that large.
It requires extra space to expand files and install them.

A bigger concern are the memory and video card requirements, considering what they list are supposed to be the "minimum."

I wonder if they've been working on it for a while.
Otherwise how would they manage to release it in late November this year -- a little over 3 months from now.

It looks like a prequel, yes, as the story takes place in 1926. thumbsup

I just watched the video on the YouTube link you provided, mgd9000, but have to say I didn't come away with the impression of a cheap looking game woozy

It was interesting to note that it's not intended to be any kind of "prequel" or "sequel" but rather a totally "stand alone" game with the similarity/connection to the earlier Black Mirror Trilogy being the thread of insanity running through the story.

And whilst it not being a point& click affair won't put me off, I am a little concerned at the mention of "quick interactions" - which I am hoping are not descriptions of action sequences requiring quick reactions eek

If it's keyboard and mouse, I won't mind. After watching that video, it's obvious that it isn't going to be pure point and click. However, as Mad said, if there are quick-time events in the game, I will have to reconsider whether or not I want to play it.

You're right, Mad. It doesn't look like it's a prequel after all, as this game takes place in Scotland. (I'll just imagine the family has more than one castle to make everything fit together in my head. lol) I agree it doesn't look cheap at all. It's a very nice looking game, although the cut scene graphics in the trailer are even more beautiful. smile I'm sure that would be hard to maintain throughout the whole game, however.

I'm actually somewhat relieved to hear the interactions with apparitions only include quick time events and nothing as long and intense as what I've seen in the newest Sherlock Holmes. Not that I enjoy quick time events at all - I'm disappointed this appears to be a trend now - but I'm used to them after playing so many Telltale games. It looks as though the majority of the game is exploration, character interaction and puzzles. It's also good to hear that there will be more complex puzzles in certain sections of the game. thumbsup

I definitely plan on picking this one up. woot

I seem to remember Samuel Gordon visiting a castle owned by some ancestors in Wales in the first game,so with the one in Scotland there should be at least three castles owned by the Gordons.:)

This article provides more details about the game. Apparently it's not a prequel.

I have to say that after reading the article, I am less enthused about the game, although it may still be worthwhile.

From the article:

"There are no point-and-click controls which enable you to play the game just with a mouse, but we have a direct control system that allows you to play by using a combination of the mouse and the WASD keys on the keyboard. We do want players to be able to use a mouse, but of course point-and-click controls are connected to point-and-click gameplay, where you must search the environments to find interactive elements. I think that this kind of gameplay isn’t the most important element for a lot of adventure players anymore. Also, it doesn’t harmonize with a controller. We have decided to put a stronger focus on staging instead."

They don't know us Gameboomers.

Thanks Marian.

Thanks for the link, Marian.
Yes, as stated before, it's not a prequel -- it's a complete reboot.
They got the rights to the name and are making something completely different.

I think people here wanted to believe it was a prequel because they wanted to believe the new game would be like the older ones.

But it's pretty clear now that it has nothing in common with the older games but the name, and perhaps the appearance of the Black Mirror castle.

Black Mirror and Syberia 3 are not from the same developer/publisher so don't yet where it will be released.

And just because you got it at Amazon doesn't mean it still won't only be a Steam key. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

Using an Amazon "balance" doesn't make it "free".
An Amazon "balance" is essentially money you could use on something else Amazon is selling -- which is almost anything.
