I know many of you prefer text walkthroughs and they are far and few between these days.

There is a Dutch website here called PC Games Walkthroughs that is still writing text walkthroughs. They have kindly reached out to us and I am pleased to share it with you all.

With google translations they translate well enough to find what you are looking for.

I hope it helps.

Happy Gaming!

Dear gameboomers

Thanks for posting my Dutch walkthrough site here on your forum. Let me introduce myself to you, now I'm a member of gameboomers
My name is Louis Koot and I'm a game walkthrough writer from the Netherlands. I'm 63 years old and it's been a while since I have used English, so my apologies if my English is a bit rusty. If my grammar or my spelling is a bit of, please don't mock me but teach me
20 years ago I started to write walkthroughs for computergames, in the Dutch language, and Bert Jamin posted them first on his site www.gamesover.com. I was sad to recieved the news that Bert Jamin has died.

I know that many gamers, just like muself, don't like video walkthroughs and prefer written walkthroughs. On your forum you help gamers who have trouble with games and you often refer them to game walkthroughs that are not on the gameboomers site, also you refer often to video walkthroughs on YouTube. So I thought that it could be of intrest to your community if they know of my site and my walkthroughs.

The walkthroughs are all in the Dutch language, but I don't think that this will be a problem with the current translation software from Google and others. And I'm allways happy to translate little portions of one of my walkthroughs for you in English. But to do a complete walkthrough in English is to much work for me. I have been trying for years to push other Dutch gamers to write game walkthroughs....never had any luck with this, until recently. You wil see the name of Dick Leeuw as co-writer on newley made walkthroughs. I'm very happy to give Dick Leeuw all the credits he deserve for his

So, perhaps you want to check out my walkthroughs on my site at www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl

Newley added walkthroughs on my site this year are:
-A New Beginning The Final Cut
-Agatha Christi And Then There Were None
-Agatha Christi Murder on the Orient Express
-Agatha Christi Evil Under the Sun
-Ar-K 2 Gone with the Sphere
-Ar-K 2 The Girl Who wasn't There
-Ar-K 3 The Great Escape
-Bear With Me..... all three episodes
-Memoranda
-Obduction (co-writer Dick Leeuw)
-Quern Undying Thoughts (co-writer Dick Leeuw)
-Rhem 1 SE
-Rhem 4 SE
-Sam and Max Seison 1 completly
-The Frostune
-The Little Acre
-Xing The Land Byond (co-writer Dick Leeuw)

Currently working on a walkthrough for DarkesVille Castle and we are going to make a walkthrough for Painscreek Killings and Syberia 3

Best Regards: Louis Koot

Yes, thank you. Written walkthroughs are much better to me than videos. (Though I don't know how to use Google translate - yet.) smile

You are welcome! As they say, it's easy once you know how. smile

The translations at times range from pretty good to verging on hilarious, but one can usually get the gist of what's been said, and that is generally all that's needed. It's a good tool, despite its imperfections.

Dear Gameboomers

Thank you for your warm welcome remarks and appreciation of my website and walkthroughs, even if they are in Dutch. As I stated before, if you have any problems with an English translation through Google translation feel free to e-mail me. I can always try to translate small portion of one of the walkthroughs into English for you. I'm not sure if it is custumary to put personal email refrences here in a post, so I won't do this. If you go to my site at www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl and there click on my name, Louis Koot, you can e-mail me. If you do so, please be specific about the game walkthrough you want help wiith and witch part of the walkthrough you want me to translate for you. I'm sorry for members who have an other native language then English because my Italian, German, Turkish etcetera skills are non existing
Best regards: Louis Koot

Thank yo so much, Louis, Ana, and fellow Boomers. I haven't purchase any of the new adventure games only because I haven't found any text wqalkthroughs lately. Now that these walkthroghs are available to us, I probably will
We are all grateful to you for this, Louis, and I too miss Bert Jamin. Good luck, Louis.
Sandy

Since yesterday, Louis, I have purchased Darkestville Castle because I saw your partial walkthrough of this game on your site. I printed it out, and I'm playing the game. Without this WT, I could never have played it, and Would never have purchased it in the first place.
You ARE a lifesaver, Louis, and I thank you again.

Hi Sandford:

I have always known that a good text walk-through sell a game. It's a pitty I don't get any support from the game developers, but then again...I have never ask them. DarkestVille Castle is a nice game to play and not that difficult, it's a bit like A Vampyre Story. I have uploaded an updated version of this walk-through today. It's not completely finised yet, but I think that in a couple of days it wil be. I wil post it here on gameboomers when the walk-through is finished.

Regards: Louis Koot

By the way...is it walkthrough or is it walk-through?

Hi. What support don't you get?

I made a video walkthrough for my game, since it was easier for me to do that (bad back among other things), but I know many prefer it in text anyway.
So I applaud those that take the time to do this. It's hard work.

I write "walkthrough", but then again, English is not my first language. blush

Thanks for your reply, Louis,
I see now that you have completed your Darkestville Castle WT,and I just printed out the final chapter and added it to the previous text wt. I'm almost done with Chapter 2, so this comes exactly at the right time for me. LOVE this gaame, and YES< it's much like Vampyre Story, which I also enjoyed. Thank You.

And thanks, Louis, for your good work!
It's a much-needed resource...(maybe you'll tackle Aporia, hehe?)
Very sorry to hear the news of Bert Jamin-very sad...He is/was a legend for us older Boomers.

Hi Sandford....Glad that I could be of some help. Enjoy the game

Hi Murphy....I have de game Aporia Beyond the Valley and have played it and finished it once. Its not an easy game and it's big. I couldn't do one of the puzzles, but as it turnt out that did not matter because I could finish the game anyway . The area's in the game are big en nice and divers, but the puzzles are complex en you'll do a lot of running around to solve them. Also you can die in the game and you can't save at will, If I remember corectly Aporia saves at checkpoints. I wanted to try to do a walkthrough for Aporia, but then they gave me Obduction and then Xing the Land Beyond and those two games got priority.

Good points...I'm playing for the second time, and I don't know if it's inevitable you get caught by the "specter", but it usually deposits you close by. I'm hoping to find all of glass shard pieces for the mosaic this time. Don't know if that's what you were referring to, but not getting them the first time didn't stop me from finishing the game...
The multiple locations of the world here and in Quern certainly made them fun to play, though.

Hi Murphy

Yes the glass shart pieces I din't do because that specter got in the way and he was getting on my nerves. So I skipt it and it wasn't a problem for finishing the game. Got a lot of games lying around of wich I promised to do a walkthrough for.....just haven't found the time to do them, so these are for next year....the are:

-Alicia Griffith Lake Side Murder (kind of casual game but a nice one)
-Blackwood Crossings
-Conarium (difficult game)
-Empathy Path of Whispers (difficult game)
-Guardians of Gold (Free game)
-Her Majesty Spiffing (episodic..got the first episode)
-Prominence

But first Painscreek Killings and then it is time to go on Cristmas leave and spent quality time with my family, if I don't want that my wife will take my computers away

Hello Gameboomers,

Let me introduce myself, in de first post of Marinus_Louis he mentioned a co-writer and I am that co-writer.
My Name is Dick Leeuw, i'm 65 years old and i'm not used ti write in English so my grammar and spelling will sometimes be wrong.
The first games I played were Myst and Reah, whenever I needed I used the walkthroughs of Louis Koot.
In 2015 I bought the game Montague's Mount and I couldn't find a text walkthrough, not even in English.
So I tried to write a walkthrough myself, Louis was so kind to place that one on his website. The second one was Homesick and the next one was Lumino City.
All these you can find on the website www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl
The first game that we did together was I believe The Eyes of Ara, Louis makes the screenshots and I write the text. The next one was Quern-Undying Thoughs, followed by Obduction and Xing-The Land Beyond. I just finished the text for The PainscreekKillings.

In between I made the walkthroughs for The Room 1 and 2.

The reason that I like text walkthrough ove video walkthroughs is tha most of them gives the solution of the puzzle and not how and why they come to that solution and I like to understand the how and why of the puzzle ans the solution.

I hpoe the walkthroughs are helpfull for you, it is a lot of work but it is also fun to do.

I will start with Syberia 3.

Have fun

Dick
