My husband gave me his old iPad and I poked around and finally found the wonder of The Room (I, II, III and Old Sins.) Wow! The graphics immerse me into their world and I love the puzzles, which are all possible to master with a bit of patience and an open mind. I am nearing the end of Old Sins and wonder what other iPad games could possibly come close to this wonderful series. Thanks in advance!

Definitely Secrets of DaVinci. House of Da Vinci.
Some other similar ones I found that I liked were Puzzle House and Riddlord the Consequence.

Colpet, is the iPad game, Secrets of DaVinci, the same as the PC game by that name (subtitle: The Forbidden Manuscript)?

I think colpet was thinking of "House of Da Vinci," which she talked about in this thread

Hi colpet,

Did you mean The Secrets of Da Vinci or did you mean The House of Da Vinci?

I didn't play The secret of Da Vinci but I did play The House of Da Vinci.

And the game The House of Da Vinci is a same kind of game as The Room I, II, III and Old Sins.

I wrote a walkthrough for that, in Dutch and in English.

Thanks. I looked at the video it looks just like the PC game, "The Secrets of Da Vinci," that was issued by Nobilis in 2009, for the PC. I still have the box, and the script and image on the cover of the box is the same hand reaching forward shown in the BF walkthrough on line. I recall the game as being very immersive, challenging and fun, as well as beautifully rendered. (House of Da Vinci is completely different, based on the graphics.)

So, is BF repackaging older, full-blown Adventure games now or is the CD-ROM version I bought a BF game? It is a bit confusing to me.

Screenshots of Secrets of Da Vinci are here
http://www.mobygames.com/game/secrets-of-da-vinci-the-forbidden-manuscript/screenshots

Big Fish sells it here
https://www.bigfishgames.com/games/2958/the-secrets-of-da-vinci/

Sometimes it is subtitled "The Forbidden Manuscript" but Big Fish doesn't mention that subtitle.

According to Mobygames, the game was developed by Kheops, Elektrogames Limited Company, and TOTM Studio, published by Nobilis, and released in 2006. The North American version also listed TriSynergy as publisher/distributor. If your game is a PC version from 2009, it's probably a re-release of the original version. My game says 2006 on the box.

Big Fish has re-released several adventure games. This isn't a new thing. Back when most hidden object games were typically only 200 or 300 mb in size, Big Fish released what they called "Large File Games" that were actually older adventure games. Examples I bought from Big Fish were Sinking Island in 2009, Sherlock Holmes vs Arsene Lupin in 2010, and Safecracker in 2011. I don't know Big Fish's original release dates for these games, but 2009, 2010, and 2011 were the years I bought them so Big Fish has had them at least that long.

I haven't seen any game box re-releases of adventure games from Big Fish at all. I've seen a handful of older casual games with a Big Fish logo on the box. Unless your game box has a Big Fish logo, it has nothing to do with Big Fish.

Now that most hidden object games are over a gb in size, the "Large File Games" category has disappeared. To see what "Large File Games" they were offering back in 2009, here's a ***link from the web archive***. It's not displaying correctly on my computer, probably because of security features in modern browsers, but you can see they were offering a lot of Nancy Drew games, Riddle of the Sphinx, Law and Order, and several other adventure games.

"House of Da Vinci" is a new game from Blue Brain Games, released in 2017, and Big Fish does not currently sell it. The PC version is only available through Steam.
*** EDIT *** Actually the PC version and Mac version are also available DRM-free from Fireflower.

(thanks for the info Uncle Reg)

Here's a link to a YouTube playthrough of "House of Da Vinci."

*** Warning *** --- Viewing the above link may spoil puzzles.

However it is obviously different gameplay than the old "Secrets of Da Vinci" adventure game and more like "The Room."

Interesting. I never knew about BF during a time when they sold large file games.

Now almost every recent interactive hidden object or "adventure lite" game they sell is "large file" because of the high resolution graphics. So an old adventure game that fit on a CD or two isn't notable for having a "larger" file size than usual anymore, and they've dropped the "large file" classification. But Big Fish still sells the games.

They don't seem to be creating physical copies of games anymore though. If you see one, it's probably old stock, published years ago.

The PC version of "House of Da Vinci" is also available DRM-free from FireFlower Games. I got it there on Mar. 14 of this year. It is an excellent game, highly recommended.

The older Kheops game "Secrets of Da Vinci" is also a great game, one of those that benefits from the recently uncovered no-flicker patch.

I'm glad to hear that. I see it's here
http://fireflowergames.com/shop/the-house-of-da-vinci/

I was going by information on the Blue Brain website, and they didn't mention Fireflower.
They mention Greenman Gaming, but that version uses Steam.

So it's good to know a DRM-free version is available from Fireflower.

Ooops! The House of Da Vinci. I was giving examples of iOS games. I guess it is also now available for PC.
