Hello Gameboomers! I've been mostly lurking on the site, but I've been in and out of the hospital and rehab centers for most of the year. To cut a long story short they had to amputate my left leg and I'm learning to live with that. The point is that I've fallen behind in what's good in games. I had started replaying some of the games that I already had and that was fun, but I'd like to buy something current. My main interest is in detective stories, mysteries, some ghost stories. Is there anything recent that might interest me? They've got this game they are promoting now called "Secret City London Calling" and I'm kind of iffy on that one. I just get caught up when I play the trial version. Any suggestions?
SharonB
As usual I spoke too soon. I found 2 games that interested me - Haunted Manor: The Last Reunion and League of Light: The Game. They were on the Buy One, Get One Free offer. AND - Because I ordered them on a Monday I got 8 punches for my punch card.

So sorry to hear about your very trying year. There is a list of recommendations stickied on top of the forum here. Others will chime in with some too, I'm sure. SEnding positive thoughts for healing and strength. Ana

Thanks Ana. Of course I have my good days and bad days, but a lot of people have been very generous in their support. And, I'm figuring out new ways to do basic things, things I had taken for granted. On the plus side I can still drive if someone is there to take care of the wheelchair for me. And I've applied for one of those scooters so assuming I get it I'll have a little more freedom as I take to the road. I'm going to apply for a handicapped placard when I can get to the DMV and woe betide anyone using a handicapped parking space who isn't entitled! But you'd be surprised at how difficult an ordinary task, something I have always taken for granted can be when you're in a wheelchair. Did you know that most Dr's offices don't have automatic doors? Well enough of that. I know I must have missed some of my favorite series games and I've been trying to take advantage of this sale. However I have literally hundreds of games and most I've completely forgotten (benefit of a terrible memory). I was just looking for games that had been released recently - especially to see if there had been improvements in the graphics, etc. Thanks for your response. I don't know how long I've been this way, but I've become very verbose. It's hard to shut me up sometimes. Ciao!

Well, welcome back, SharonB! Sorry to hear about all the things that happened to you. But you sound as though you are bound and determined to get through it! My brother-in-law had one of those scooters after he had a leg amputated. He got a red one and was a holy terror on it at age 60! He never missed his granddaughter's soccer games and people said they would see that red scooter coming and get out of the way!
Good luck to you an hope you find some good games. It seems you're looking for casual games, but a good ghost adventure game is Goetia.
Gardens put to bed for the winter. Time for some gaming!

I'm sorry to hear of your recent woes, Sharon, but like Drac said, you sound bound and determined. Attitude is half the battle. One of the places I like to visit for game reviews is http://allaboutcasualgame.com/ That sight will review and rate games on fun factor, graphics, music, voice acting, etc. It will also let you know CE content as well as how good the HOPs and puzzles are. I especially like games with good puzzles and always look there before buying. If you rely on the reviews at Big Fish they are too often stilted as some people give every game 5 stars. The site I mentioned is more objective. There is one they just reviewed that they made an "editor's choice": Memoirs of Murder: Welcome to Hidden Pines. It's a murder mystery developed by Eipix...one of the better developers in my opinion. I haven't played it as yet since I am soooooo far behind in my game playing, I am now working on games I downloaded in 2016. I hope you find yourself some good games, Sharon, and all the best to you moving forward!

I too send positive thoughts for healing and strength, Sharon. And it's good to see you here again. I hope you enjoy the games that you chose. All that goes for me, too, SharonB

SharonB, I know what you mean about people parking in handicapped spaces and jogging into store. My husband was handicapped and we witnessed this often while trying to find a space. My thoughts are with you and keep playing these wonderful games.

Wow! The number of well wishes shocks me. I don't always know how to say it, but the voicing (or typing) of so many makes me feel really good. It helps a lot, especially tonight. I slept a couple hours and thought things were different until in my dream I said wait a minute. This is too good to be true. Then I woke and was bitterly disappointed to find out that yes, it was too good to be true. Anyway, I'm going back to bed to try for some more sleep. Thank you all. And I did buy a bunch of games You know there comes a time when you should stop playing games for a while. I was playing and really tired and I didn't know where this item I needed in the game was. So I found myself thinking,"Maybe I can get this at Amazon". The only thing I'm really sure of at this point is that I need to sleep!

I hope some new games help alleviate stress. I've been revisiting relatively older games lately but have started sifting through my brain to think of newer ones for you. I did notice Reenie liked "Secret City: London Calling." I have not played it myself.
