I did not get the magnifier from the library, and now cannot view the slides. I cannot talk to Trish about it. Does that mean I am going to have to go waaay back to a previous save, or is there another way to examine the slides ?

That I don't know, Doreen. Let's wait and see if another player is able to help you.

Thank you, fellow Boomer Chrissie. Up to now, I have been playing this game going back and forth between the Video walkrhrough and back to the game every few steps of the way. Now that I've been following YOUR WT, I realize that I've missed a few things, so I have to backtrack in order to catch up. Right now I'm trying to do "the radio frequencies" puzzle, and believe when I tell you it hasn't been easy trying to get the dials in the right place. So far I have the top right frequency done so I "saved" at this point so I don't have to start all over We all appreciate this great WT, Chrissie. GB walkthroughs ride again. LOL

There's been quite a few reports of this puzzle being buggy for a lot of players, including myself on a couple of occasions, when doing the right thing results in nothing happening. It seems that it will eventually work if you keep trying.
If you leave the room & go outside you will just about hear the noise of 'grating' which I think is the puzzle resetting.
I don't know whether it makes any difference but I used the trolley on the west pad, the fire extinguisher on the east & the stone on the north.

All I can suggest Dianne is to keep trying! smile

BTW, thank you for the lovely comments. I'm delighted that members are finding the walkthrough so helpful!

WOW, talk about being buggy, Chrissie, the pressure pads puzzle isn't working for me. I have followed your advice about placing things on the correct pads in the correct order, even comparing the various sounds. I keep waiting for a "door" to open on the right side but it doesn't. There seems to be a place for another light at the bottom right of the mural, although I may be mistaken. Anyway, here I am STUCK. I wish there were a "skip puzzle" feature, but of course there is NOT. BUMMER!

The "voice" In the Pads room ( subtitles ON) is saying:
West- "I ride within the firmament-----"
North- "Below of man and-----"
East- "A star is Ziggeraut-----"
South- "Beast----"

These must be clues to the puzzle, but I haven't a "clue" as to what they mean, Boomers. Can anybody put this all together to solve this crazy puzzle?
Sandy

There is a Steam thread about the puzzle here:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/501790/discussions/0/1698294337781100736/

One person said:

4) have your character stand on the remaining slab (in the center closest to you, the player - opposite the stone)

And if I understand the other comments on the Steam page, it may take quite a while for Harper to indicate the puzzle is solved, or you may have to reset the puzzle and try again. If you accidentally walk on a pad, it will mess up the sequence and you'll have to start over.

But check the Steam thread for other comments.

Hi Jenny,
Thank you for your input, but up to now I've done everything right according to Chrissie's WT and the Steam link. I have even gone back to the save before this (just reaching the island), but to no avail, so this MUST be a "glitch" of some kind.
Has anybody who has finished this game have some more info? frustrating!
Sandy

I just watched a video WT of this game. A few moments after Harper steps on the South pad, he says something, and then the door on the Right opens finishing this puzzle. GRRRRRRR!

BTW: I have the GOG version, if that makes any difference.
Now I'm getting desperate. Maybe someone has a savegame just after solving this puzzle? If so, where are the saves for the GOG version of this game? HELP!!!!

Well yes, obviously.
That's what the people at the Steam link are saying.
But many of them also say that if you go through the sequence over and over, resetting between times and being careful not to accidentally step on a pad out of turn, that you eventually get through.

Do you have the latest version of the game?
There was a patch about 4 days ago announced at GOG forum here
https://www.gog.com/forum/unforeseen_incidents/neue_version_vom_7618

Well Jenny, I checked with GOG's site and I'm told that my game already has the latest updated version, so I have a choice to wait for more info or delete the game and start all over, which I really don't wish to do right now. I'm not even sure that it IS a GOG bug, and if I do a replay, it could still be "buggy".

Sandy
Please refer to my post on Page One

At least I just found where the Saves are located. Now all I need is that darned savegame to get through this part of the game. LOL

I can send you a saved game Sandy, but because of the different order you can do things in it might be better if you send me YOUR saved game for me to play through that sequence & send back to you. I've PMed you my email address. smile

That matches the experience of some of the players who posted at the Steam forum.
They have to redo the puzzle several times, exiting the area to reset the puzzle each time, and after multiple repeats the puzzle finally decides to work.
Why this happens is a mystery.
Glad you finally got through.

The problem is not unique to the GOG version and has nothing to do with GOG.
It's a problem with the game.
If the developer didn't fix the problem in the latest patch, maybe it was because he couldn't reproduce the bug on his computer.

You may have to use a saved game.
Chrissie has offered to use your save to play past this spot.
That's probably the best solution for you.

I finally finished this great game, fellow Boomers. Thanks to all of you for your valued input, and a special thank you to Chrissie who came to my aid with that "buggy" part of the game. Your walkthrough was absolutely perfect, Chrissie.
HAPPY GAMING!
