This game is so complicated that I doubt that anyone can help but here goes.
I have reached the point where I have collected the seal and letters.
It then says there should be a shard in the oven int theworkshop.
It isn’t there however. I have backtracked several times but no luck.
If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it but there are so many variations I’m not hopeful. Regards— Peter.

If you are playing in Amateur/Junior sleuth mode, my suggestion would be to see what else is on your task list yet to be done and focus on trying to accomplish something there. This game is very nonlinear and if there is no sphinx fragment in the kiln, it probably just means that your path is a bit different than the one in the walkthrough and that some other thing or things need to be accomplished first. It's hard to say what that might be, but I have found that the task list can be of help in situations like this.

We have some other Nancy Drew players here who read these threads, so if someone else reads this and has a better recollection of the events in this game than I do, please feel free to jump in and offer some advice.

Hi Marian— just to let you know still no progress. I hate not finishing a game so I will go back to a known save— some way back— and hope that my patience doesn’t run out. Thanks for your interest. —Peter

Keep us posted, Peter. My suggestion would be to not be overly concerned about the fragment in the kiln and to work on your task list and try to exhaust all other possibilities. Good luck.

Hi Marian --Just to let you know that I have succumbed -- I have spent hours and hours going backwards and forwards but still cannot get the shard picked up--I have to admit defeat but still want to finish.
therefore , would anyone please send me a save once the shard has been picked up??-- really want get on to something else.
(Yes , I know that I'm a pain)--Peter

I just sent you a saved game which I believe is the one that I have which is closest to where you are stuck. It is right after you get the sphinx fragment out of the kiln and you are working with the Greek letter panel in the tunnel. If I have sent you a save other than this one or this one does not work out, let me know. I am working off someone else's saved games so it's not always easy to discern which saved game is the one that is needed.
