Following in the footsteps of many great adventure games from the 80s “The Jester and the Madman” will offer logical inventory puzzles and an engrossing storyline . It will continue the design philosophy of its predecessor:
Puzzles that make sense from the view of the protagonist.
No dead-ends
Time-limited puzzles instead of final death. Failure will automatically set you back a few seconds so you can try again.
Acknowledging good approaches that might not be the correct solution to a puzzle.
Special logic puzzles to loosen up the gameplay.
Puzzle-box narrative to keep you hooked with open questions.
Dramatic events to underline suspense.
The game is depicted from an outside director-view and features a hot-spot system to find interactable objects quick and easy. It will use an improved version of its predecessor’s engine with additional functionality like multiple save-games and better image quality.
The story will take place over a multitude of locations all around the world and feature a second playable character. Without going too much into spoiler-territory: it will still be heavily inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and feature otherworldly entities and secret societies practicing the occult. There will be two different endings to the story adding replayability. A third secret ending, involving some extra challenging puzzle-solving, might be added if we hit our first stretch-goal.
