There are plenty of articles about this online. Here is one of them.

Ew. Doesn't sound pleasant, but at least does sound "normal" according to the interesting article Marian linked to. I hope you can find a place to put the litter box where the dog can't get to family. luck

i would still find a way to block it off where the dog can't get to it . that is what we had to do with our older dog.

It's disgusting, but more of a danger that the dog is ingesting some of the cat litter too. Do something to block off the litter pan so the dog can't get to it. Maybe a baby gate or something.

Well you are not alone family, our dogs eat cat poop, especially the one of them, so like you we have to keep the litter boxes cleaned daily and sometimes 2 to 3 times a day, it is a chore but our pets are like kids to us and we do love them. And the article that Marian supplied is dead on regarding it is almost Impossible to Train dogs not to eat cat poo, it is in their nature, God know we tried and tried to no avail....
So good luck with your dog.

We have 4 cats and 2 litter boxes, 1 box upstairs and 1 downstairs. We are constantly cleaning the boxes (immediately if we are aware of usage) even though we have no dogs to eat the poop. I would worry about the dog eating the litter as Draclvr said though, so I would want to remove the box from temptation if at all possible.

We don't toss all the litter each time of course. We use clumping litter that comes in a big plastic tub and we keep an empty tub near the box with a plastic bag in it that we scoop the poop and peep into. Then we just gather the plastic bag once or twice a week for the garbage.

Speaking as someone who earns a living taking care of peoples pets all day, I can assure it is not by any means the worst thing that dogs eat. lol

Good God, I would hate to think what that could be, but don't answer just yet, I am eating a light snack at the moment.

Just out of curiosity, what is or was the maximum number of pets you took care of in one day?

lol the most "stops" in a day was 17. I average 7-10 usually, but the amount of animals and visits varies every day. My fitbit says I walk ten miles a day. My feet agree. lol Some people have multiple pets. I have dogs, cats, fish and hamsters and it involves anything from cleaning out cages, feeding, giving insulin shots and meds, playtime, just cuddles because they had surgery, driving them to a forest preserve for an hour hike or just letting them out in the yard for a quick potty. I absolutely love my job and my clients. They are all like my own!
