This is the latest Social Security scam designed to defraud you out of your money.

Thanks gymcandy1. For me, the real shame of all these scams is that I have started to not trust ANYBODY anymore. Certainly not somebody on the phone asking personal information or for money or even to hear me say the word "yes", but even people I see on the street. For instance, if I see a blind person walking down the street with a cane and/or dog, I don't feel sure if the person is really blind or is somebody trying to scam people (get them close enough to rob them or something). Car trouble? Probably a scam. Homeless and hungry? Scam. Etc. And that, is a shame!

I know what you mean oldbroad. I already ignore phone calls if I don't recognize the caller. I've read too many horror stories.

I had one of those call, Joe. I actually listened to the whole thing just to see how outrageous it was. Sad to think people are losing their hard earned money from it.

oldbroad, I know! We have seen brand new 70K vehicles dropping off the panhandlers on the corners. It's a business for some. Makes me sad for the others.

The world sure has changed in our lifetime.

We received this call today stating there is "legal enforcement action" against our ss# due to fraudulent activity. It was a recording that left a call back number (no "press 1" to talk to somebody). Number as mentioned at Scammer.info.

I've received that call before, oldbroad.

I got a call not that long ago & they told me I owed the IRS for back taxes. I asked them if they realized that they were calling a phone # in Canada. Called them morons & hung up. Well, I actually used something stronger than moron. LOL.

I recently heard of a good response to such calls. Answer saying, “Hello caller. You’re on the air.” 🤣 Of course, this won’t work with robocalls.

I seldom get these anymore but used to get them quite a bit. We have our landline through Comcast and they have a feature called Nomorobo that automatically screens out most robo calls. our phone rings once and then stops and the call never gets through. It's been really nice.
