Your browser is whatever program you use to go to the internet. See the "save" icon to the left of the name of the file? Click on it. Then you will need to move the save to your saved games folder.

What website are you downloading from?

It is this website here. One of our go-to places in the Hints forum for saved games.

I figured that... but when I checked, I didn't see any saves that matched what deleterman said.

Google Chrome is not a website... it's a browser, deleterman. So, did you click on that "save" icon and download the file?

I can't remember... is this a download from GOG?

That's what I was thinking, but I just couldn't remember for sure.

If it is, then look in this path, deleterman. C:\Program Files(x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games and then open up The Last Sanctuary. I don't have the game from GOG, so I don't know what you will find there. But see if there is a Saves file. If you have all your save slots in the game used, you may have to delete one. Not sure how that works.

If you find the file with the saves in it, just delete on. Preferable the earliest one. Then move the downloaded file into the Save game file.

What is the name of the save you downloaded?
That is the only save you need to replace.

I'd recommend backing up your old save just in case the saves from nicouzouf aren't compatible with your GOG version of the game.

If you downloaded it from here
http://www.nicouzouf.com/en/?id=draculathelastsanctuary

you should unzip the
draculathelastsanctuary_savegames_part_048.zip

file and get a file called Saved_8.bin

Saved_8.bin is what you drag into your Dracula save folder.
Or you can unzip the draculathelastsanctuary_savegames_part_048.zip file directly into your save folder, whichever makes the most sense to you.

There is some concern that this save won't work on the GOG download of the game. I'm hoping it will.

I knew this was going to be tricky, if indeed it worked at all, but I decided to suggest it because deleterman's stuck point in this game was driving him nuts. I know the feeling.

And I'm glad you did... the Jacob's Ladder puzzle drove me nuts too! I finally got it, but it took many, many tries.

Right click the downloaded file. In the dropdown menu, select Extract All and just click Extract to have it extract the zipped file into your Download folder. Is this saved game called "after the 4th handle" at the website? If that's correct, then it will bypass a huge chunk of the game, not just the Jacob's Ladder Puzzle.

So, have you found a save game file for the game?

yes I know what U are talking about... I would like to finish that part than get a saved game ...that is a hard thing for me ! this windows 10 is driving me nuts it is hard for me to learn how to get around in it...I guess that i'm to old to learn new tricks. I went to youtube and watched the part of the puzzle - but that was hard to follow .. i guess that I will just try and try again....

deleterman, I will be 72 in just a few days! You are never too old to learn new things. I'm helping another senior citizen from GB navigate Windows 10 and he's amazed at how easy it is considering he thought it was going to be a nightmare!

I had a terrible time with this puzzle too. Make sure step #1 is at the top even with the walkway... click there first. Then go down two steps and click. It got harder after that. I turned sideways a bit to see the symbols because that's what you are doing... stepping on steps that have certain symbols. The symbols are in the green notebook. On some of them, there was a pattern on the step that helped me. The pictures in MaG's walkthrough are really helpful.

If you are no longer trying to install the saved game file, then you should go back to posting in the "hint" forum.
