Hi.

Now my Win7 machine is repaired I will be looking for a new graphics card to (eventually) replace the temporary one my Son in Law installed when getting the machine back "up & runnin".

I just want a decent quality one suitable for playing my Win7 games - Adventures, RPG's and Casuals.
[And also quite a few of my WinXP games that will play on this machine.]

So I don't need a latest "all singing and dancing" version grin

I used Speccy to provide the info below in the hopes a kindly Techie will offer advice.

Thanks.

OK. Two questions. Budget and is this a bigger case or a small one? Of course, video cards can range from $100 to $1000 and more! Do you have a preference between Nvidia and AMD?

A nice Nvidia GTX 1060 will run in the vicinity of $200.

I know you are in the UK, but here is a nice 1050Ti to replace your current one for less that $200.

Here is a comparison at GPU Boss of your old 560Ti and a 1050 Ti

I would suggest getting the best one you can for now.

Once again, weeds are my life!

Is the GeForce GTX 560 Ti your current graphics card? or is it the one that went bad?

If you're going to be interested in playing Diablo 4, I'd use this as a guide

Otherwise look at the most demanding games you're interested in playing and check the "Recommended" requirements for the video card. You'll want at least that much.

The Radeon RX 580 with 8GB video RAM is what flotsam is using.

Make sure the card you get has the right connections for your monitor.

Thank you both for responding and I will consider carefully what you say smile

It's the replacement one my Son in Law fitted - to tide me over - Jenny100.
But as it has very similar, if slightly better specs than what was there before and is not quite as old, considering the time he had available we thought it would be a sensible temporary solution.

I agree it's not bad at all as an interim card.
It will play most older adventure games, though it won't meet the requirements for the more demanding new ones like Heaven's Vault, Draugen, or MADievals.

The newly released Adventure and RPG games I'm buying these days are rather few and far between, Jenny100, so I know I won't need a graphics card that could cope with the huge demands some of them are requiring.

But I'm keeping a note of "look at's" from you and Draclvr - and thank you very much for them grin
