Kentucky Route Zero is a magical realist adventure game about a secret highway running through the caves beneath Kentucky, and the mysterious folks who travel it.
The final act was released ion January 28th.

Watch the trailer here.

Check out the Official Website here.

Quote
Kentucky Route Zero is a game in five acts, which we've been developing and publishing episodically for several years. On January 28th when the game is complete, it will be available for Windows, Linux, and MacOS as 'Kentucky Route Zero: PC Edition' and, in partnership with Annapurna Interactive, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox One as 'Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition.' These two editions are the same aside from the platforms they run on. Both editions include all five acts as well as the free 'interlude' games we made between episodes, and are playable in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, or Russian.

Happy Gaming!

I bought this game almost 6 years ago and am finally playing it. I am not impressed at all. It is supposed to be a real good game with a good soundtrack. I haven't encountered much music yet and when I did I had to just sit and listen to it - no control over mouse to even look around, which I did not appreciate. I have only played the first 2 acts so far. The first one seemed like it might be going to turn interesting. Probably didn't see or do everything I was supposed to since it really doesn't give you any clue at all what to do. The second act was just 1 full hour of BORING! Nothing at all to do except turn your mouse in a circular motion looking at (no voice overs) some boring conversation???? I sure hope it gets better going forward. duh

Ob, far from a resounding endorsement - maybe it will get better? smile

I was just looking at a walkthrough to see some stuff I didn't look at in Act 1 and then looked at Act 2. The Act 2 in the walkthrough is completely different than what I played so I don't know. Maybe I am just doing something wrong. I guess I'll see what happens in Act 3.

PS Marian - the final act came out 2 years ago. I just dug this thread up rather than start a new one. I was looking for GB member comments. I found a few and they liked the game!

Ob, you are right! I had spaced out, thinking this was a new post. I removed my redundant thank-you to Ana. wink

I have read a lot of good things about the game from other players, too. And I am glad that you brought up the thread. wave

Hey oldbroad.

Sorry to hear you are somewhat disappointed with the KRZ.

I kept an eye on KRZ from the day they released Act 1. My interest in the game came from living in Northwest Indiana not too far from Lake Michigan. Mammoth Cave was a 5 hour drive from home. Made many visits to the many different cave systems there and other caves systems running through Kentucky. I have yet to grab KRZ. Forgot all about it. I will get it when it goes on sale.

That walkthrough you used, was it dated before this PC Edition released - 1/2020. Act 1 released back in 2013 according to it's Steam page. On that page in the "ABOUT THIS GAME" it states:

"Originally published episodically over a span of years, the game now includes all five acts along with the "interludes," which were originally published separately. It has also been painstakingly localized for French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish (both European Spanish and Latin American)."

They have made a number of changes KRZ and it would not surprise me if they made changes to the acts as well. I really don't know. Any walkthroughs pryor 1/2020 could be why your gaming experience differs from that walkthrough you were looking at. They released the entire game as a whole now. I don't know if Steam would have updated the entire game to this final release package or what. I would hope so. Check out another walkthrough and see what you get. Maybe your gaming experience will align with it

Hope the game gets better for you if it can

Have a nice day OB

Hi Orion. I'm not sure which walkthrough I was looking at but I think the problem is that I somehow didn't actually play Act 2 and only saw one of the "interludes". I never found any instructions for playing the game but have now noticed on the main menu that the name of the Act is scratched out after you play it, but my Act 2 is not scratched out. I am finally ready to start Act 5 (the thankfully, final act) and possibly will look at Act 2 when I finish Act 5 if I think I can stomach some more of the game. I don't like leaving games unfinished. I just am not enjoying this game. I like "off the wall" stuff but I'm finding this game boring! I think it could have been a good game though.

Some of the reviews called it boring as well. What a bummer. Was hoping a good experience. I'll have to check out a walkthrough before I go after it. Sad......you spend 7 years developing a game only to make it boring(?)
