hagatha, I'm sorry for not responding much, I'm juggling various jobs and pulled in different directions, but your husband has been in my thoughts and I'm sending nothing but the best! I do read everything, I just forget to reply. hearts

Does anyone know if you can drive through other states with this stay-at-home/safe-at-home order? my hubby wants to drive through many states to move my daughter back here but we don't know if he would get a ticket if they see his out of state license. I looked on the internet but I didn't see anything about driving through states. Help?

I don't know the answer to your question but how many states? Like, is this going to be driving straight there and back without having to stop some place to spend the night or use a rest area? Those are the things I'd be worried about.

mbday: I don’t think there are any orders in play that prevents people from driving out of state at this point in time. I’ve heard this question asked in press conferences and haven’t heard that there are any plans to stop people with out-of-state license plates. Perhaps check with someone in the states involved. Start with the governor’s office in each state.

I can find plenty of information of this question in the UK, but nothing here. I'd have to agree with Sparkle... contact the governor's office in each state they would be driving through. Hotels etc. may not be open, so he's going to want to check on that too.

I know several folks that have made very long, cross-state drives instead of flying to take care of family business. You're fine driving like that, but it's like the others said, hospitality based businesses may be in short demand, so best to check in advance what's open along the route.

YOu can't travel to Florida, they placed a ban from out of state except for truckers.

My son is currently on a plane to California and they had a change in route and had a stop over in Dallas instead of non-stop. He said they were confronted by sheriffs and asked if they were staying. If yes, they were required to fill out a form of where they will quarantine for two weeks. If caught on the street you can be fined 1000 dollars and 180 days in jail.

You can't drive through Texas either.

Wow, thanks for the info Ana, didn't know about all of that. We've got family just outside of Dallas. Their parents were planning on visiting them, not sure if they knew about those restrictions.

You are welcome, Drac! I found it looking for my son to be sure he wouldn't have any issues arriving in Cali (or coming home next weekend!).

I was just seeing that on FaceBook My10. Sad. frown

I just saw that too. He had been doing better so I hoped he would be OK. 73 is just too young!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. Truly, it helps.

We did go boating, though it turns out there is a ban on retention of Springs until July, to help the Southern Resident Orca population recover, so we took a long ride up to Bute Inlet. Snowy peaks, porpoises, sea lions; a perfect way to get away from COVID worries.

Very sad about John Prine. That's one of the nasty things about this virus. It seems to get a second, more dangerous wind in some cases.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I've read that same thing about it getting a "second wind" and killing. Listening to an epidemiologist the other day and there is SO much about this virus they simply don't know yet. It does not behave like any of the other common corona viruses.

Today hubby is going fishing at the small lake on our 120 acre family farm property about 15 minutes away. I'm about 2/3 of the way done with weeding around the house, so we have plenty to do. Using the on-line shopping and pickup option at the local grocery store and getting everything else from Amazon or Chewy.

man oh man. He was going to Florida. That is what he was afraid of. "YOu can't travel to Florida, they placed a ban from out of state except for truckers." so, how can someone move? This thing is a nightmare for us, as I am sure it is for many people.

I've heard that, until a 'cure' is found, social distancing, in some form, will become normal during this time of year. It isn't a one time thing because it's too strong to just disappear.

Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

The epidemiologist I was listening to the other day said this is most likely going to settle into a seasonal illness like the flu. It would be like finding a "cure" for the common cold or the seasonal flu. This one just doesn't behave like the other corona viruses. My ICU nurse neighbor said a benefit of social distancing has been a drastic reduction in seasonal flu cases.

So Costco has toilet paper again, but we still can't find any whole wheat flour anywhere, and now coffee cream seems to be in short supply - and that last one I can't do without! You can mess with just about anything else (flour implies baking, and that's work), but you can't mess with my coffee. mad

Guess I'll have to use whipping cream instead. grin

I saw that, too. Amazing.

The curve is apparently flattening here in BC, though it's going to be a while before we get back to normal. We don't have a huge number of cases on the Island yet. BC Ferries are checking people for symptoms before they allow them on board, and there are fewer sailings, so the physical barrier of the ocean is probably helping us.

We're enjoying the solitude. This year we won't have an influx of visitors from Vancouver, so we'll be quite peaceful this summer.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I went grocery shopping this morning, wearing a mask, carrying sanitizing wipes and a spray bottle of alcohol with me. All I needed was a whip and an old fedora. When I got to the store, I could have sworn I heard the theme from Raiders of the Lost Ark build-up the closer I got to the store lol
