Soldiers in Heaven

Little Jake asked his mother during the Memorial Day Parade: "Mamma, don't soldiers ever go to heaven?"

"Of course they do!" protested his mother. "What makes you ask?"

"There are so many soldiers with beards but I never saw any pictures of angels with beards." he replied .

The mother responded "Oh, that's because most vets who go to Heaven get there by a close shave."

Good morning everyboomie.


I hope this morning finds everyone well.


My morning started out nice enough. I had my breakfast and coffee, and then took Missy parking.


When we got back I started trying to do some stuff out in the back, but we had more rain last night and it's already heated up enough that I was starting to feel like a rose in a hot oven..........or maybe it's a Lilley in a hot oven.


I looked at our weather for the next 10 days and it's almost nothing but heat and thunderstorms.


We have huge rain chances for the next 12 days actually. Bummer!


I could stand the heat if it would just dry up.


Soot I think it's cool that you got to visit Australia. We were going to get to go there when I was in the Navy, because our ship was named after the late Prime Minister of Australia, Harold E Holt. The trip was canceled at the last minute due to the Vietnam War operations.


We did get to make a trip to Alaska for a month on a good will tour with our sister ship, which was absolutely awesome! Nobody on the ship wanted to return to Hawaii.

Signs of Spring for me

1. Finally took the tarp off my lawn chairs; now I just need to find someone to do some repair work to my patio and I can use them!
2. Association removed a bunch of dead bushes with no immediate plans to replace them. Lots of room for my whirlygigs; 6 of them spinning away. Love that my home is the only one with them.
3. Snow and ice gone; replace with with storms and hail.
4. Not looking forward to expected humidity as Summer arrives, but I'll take it! Heat's easier for me than the cold.

It's 88 degrees here and humid. Looks like summer is on its way!

It's a working weekend for me but just till noon everyday so I still have plenty of time for fun. They are all forest preserve hikes and not neighborhood walks so I enjoy them.

Hi Soot thanks Sunday was a bit of everything including sore backs but we had a early and slept soundly .... and Monday (your sunday-there) I went to the hospital for my Pre-admin booking, came home to find hubby cooking spaghetti for us...now he fell asleep so I hopped on my computer for some downtime..

Happy Memorial Day

Succumbed to putting on the air conditioner this morning. Heat's one thing; humidity another.

My thoughts go out to all who served our country in whichever war. My dad did his bit with Korean War. Since then, no one else in my family got called or enlisted. I'm grateful for that too.

Wishing you all a wonderful Memorial Day. My dad served, my husband served, my daughter is currently serving.

Son has been in the kitchen for hours working on dinner tonight. I thought it sounded quick and easy, but guess I was wrong!

I had a very hot and humid walk this morning. I'm like you Butterflybabe. I don't mind heat, but humidity is the pitts. I didn't mind it when I was young, but once I left and came back, I've cannot seem to adjust like I did when I was young.
