Nehrim, the new Oblivion full-game mod, is available free on Steam right now.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I've been waiting for a while. I've had it on a disc but was never able to get it working.

Now if only they'd do a full-on, full-game Fallout mod.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

That would be cool. It's been awhile since I made it through a game of Oblivion. I used to play it quite often, but got side tracked with other stuff.

I've been running a heavily modded F4 and just ended a level 70 game, and restarted. For some reason I never did the Railroad ending, so pursued that this time around. For as ethically minded they claim to be, they really are a violent bunch, aren't they?

Next I'm trying for the "Good Ending" where you are able to create a shaky alliance between the Minutemen, Railroad and BOS. It takes some picky quest tracking, but I'd like to have a good save game with that ending. I think that would allow pushing the levels higher without it feeling redundant.

In my current game I walked right past Preston and his gang and left them behind for good. It's made my game so much more fun. No constant demands. He cops an attitude if you ignore him, but hey, it's worth it. lol And he and his ungrateful gang can just stay where they are until some other sucker comes along. It always annoyed me that I was the General but he got to give me orders every five minutes.

My game is now heavily modded with mostly settlement-related mods. I've built some cool places, but still getting the hang of building some of the truly wonderful places you can see on Pinterest. I've had to disable the experience for crafting, of course; I'd be at level 120 by now just by throwing up a few rough bases. And I finally started to resort to bat files for crafting materials because buying materials was getting to be too much like work. mad

I'm trying to play the BOS line without having to betray the Railroad. Apparently there is a way to do it. Danse apparently has an interesting twist farther down the line.

I'm just about to head into the Institute at level 78, but I've done all of the DLC's and set up all my bases there.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

When I'm building a mega fortress I just go into "god mode". You don't gain any XP and there's no material requirements. After building, I usually use the player.additem [Material ID] ## and stock up on all the stuff I need for modding weapons.

I don't consider it much of a cheat, because I'm running the mod Modern Firearms and recycling enemies faster than the game normally does. That means more enemies that are armed just as heavily or even more so as my character. Taking on the BOS if you side with the Institute is insane, because most of the high-level knights are carrying anti-tank guns that fire heavy incendiary rounds that stagger you with every shot. Legendary raiders are also sometimes "one-shot monsters", the only thing that counters it, is a mod I've got that adds variables to the ballistic fiber mod allowing you to build some epic tactical armors.

Oh, and if you add the perk "Bloody Mess" those incendiary rounds, which you can use as well, turn lower level raiders into a sort of fleshy fireworks display lol

...and I totally agree with you. Preston and the whole settlement maintenance things sucks the life out of the game. I finally loaded a mod that stops the "Settlement is under attack" messages. I completely bypassed Concord and built my fortress at the Drive-in Theater site. That's the best one in my opinion, especially if you have a mod that allows you to scrap every building and item on the site. Then you can start from scratch on a nearly flat surface that's not attacked every hour. I'll go back to Preston later on, to start up talks with the Minutemen, but for now, I've got some raiders to explode grin

I haven't used Bloody Mess yet, but I do have the ridiculous perk that gives you a spray of coins on a kill every now and again. I tend to play a sniper using an awesome cryogenic rifle I found in Nuka World and my upgraded Gauss Rifle, with all of the sniper and ninja perks. I might actually have to up the difficulty level at this point.

I hadn't thought about God Mode. I use Scrap Everything and the ~bat craft code, which gives you a ton of everything in the game. I got away from building concrete fortresses and am now building full-on junk settlements, which is infinitely harder if you want things to look interesting.

I did build myself a beautiful modern house in the Visitor's Centre in Far Harbor, complete with two settlers who sort of behave like servants in that there is nothing for them to do except use the stove in the kitchen and harvest the odd mutfruit. It has a dog, a cat, and a very cool car, courtesy of one of my mods, though I can't figure out which one it is.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Well, I added Nehrim to my library. Not sure when I'll get a chance to play it though. Seems like something for which I'll need to set some time aside to play.

Same here. I'm closing in on the point where I make my final choice in Fallout 4, and then I have to choose between about 20 new games waiting on my computer. I'm leaning towards Nehrim, though, because it'll be new but familiar.

edit: No sooner said than my Fallout 4 game crashed to desktop, and now neither Steam nor Vortex can locate it. One of my mods has been troublesome and I should have disabled it a long time ago because it causes ctd's.. I'm backing up my saves and moving on. Nehrim, here I come.

EDIT: Well, that was fast. I got everything up and running, made my character, started the game, got to the point where I had to pick up a dagger, and...nope. Not happening. Try to pick up that puppy, game freezes.

Sigh. Not my day for gaming, I guess.

Moving on to something else again.

Thus is the life of playing modded games in the Windows 10 environment. Even in compatibility mode some of my mods go wonky now.

I had issues with just vanilla Oblivion previous to this, we'll see how the something built free-standing on the same game engine fares. I'm going to wait until the next Win10 patch comes through.

I'm downloading my Fallout game right now to see if I can get it running again. If I can, I'll disable the offending mod, although that means I'll have to rush over to my Minutemen-free Sanctuary and Abernathy Farm settlements, because their houses will immediately disappear.

This is not the first time I've had to do this.

As for Nehrim, I've tweaked the Options quite a bit and it's working much better now, but it has a constant "hiccup" when moving.

On the other hand, I'll be buying a new gaming laptop just as soon as I can decide which one is the absolute best. The Spousal Unit has told me to go wild and get a really good one. Probably so that he no longer has to hear me grumbling and muttering and swearing at my computer. grin

I'm going to give Nehrim a go this weekend anyway, and see how it goes.

My last FO4 game glitched out due to a mod I've got running to keep Danse's alignment, post him getting booted from the BOS, even if you side with another faction and drop the Prydwen. I think the mod, rather than changing his alignment dynamically with the quest line, just permanently associates him as a companion. After giving them a hand in Cambridge, he started right into "Ready to go Soldier?" as if he was already a companion instead of grilling me about why I helped them.

I've had really good luck with both Asus and HP laptops. Specifically Asus for gaming/personal use and HP for business use. I'm sure the Glitches forum will have other suggestions too. Just stay away from Samsung. They seem well made, but their update engine is horrible and customer service useless. My partner's laptop was bricked shortly after warranty by a forced BIOS update, even though I had shut that function off. Samsung denied any responsibility, though there were multiple reports of the issue on the web. Their local, "official" service center wanted $75 plus parts to "try" and fix it. I'm sure that would have been just pulling the CMOS battery, since as I found out myself, they didn't have a reset button and the BIOS chip was of the non-removable sort. So basically we rented a laptop for a year. After opening it up, I saw how heavily mass produced it was, lots of glue and one time use parts. It was never meant to be repaired, and was not a cheap laptop.

No Samsungs, then.

Computer buying is so complicated if you don't know what you're doing, which I don't. I had an Acer gaming laptop (Vista) for about 6 years and it was awesome, believe it or not. It was an 18" with great graphics, smooth as silk. Another one I had custom made, a desktop, stank to high heaven and was retired after about 3 years. My Alienware has been fantastic (and I am checking out their Area 51-R2 model, which looks pretty sweet to my layperson eyes). There are various sites I can look at for guidance before I choose.

I got my F4 game back up and running. Time to blast through the rest of the game and let my settlements fend for themselves. I've decided to side with the BOS this time. The Railroad are actually killing the synths by wiping their minds and installing new personalities into them. The Minutemen are still in Concord and I have no intention of joining them. So BOS it is, probably.

Then I'll give Nehrim a real go. I really enjoyed Enderal, so I'm hoping it's as good.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, I recommend consulting with Draclvr and Jenny100 in the Glitches forum before you buy a new laptop or desktop; they can give you some great suggestions. You tell them how much you can spend and I am sure they can give you some good input about potential purchases concerning processor speed, video card, etc.
