Find a word and its container for each of the clues below. For example, "meat in a river (6,3)" -> T(ham)es. The numbers are the word lengths of the container and contained words respectively
-1. Incinerate in a tree (8,4) -2. Monkey in a frolic (5,3) -3. Injured in a house plant (8,4) -4. Behind in a weapon (7,4) -5. Drink in a dance (7,3) - Spanish ballroom dance in triple time, and the drink is long and alcoholic (1222111) -6. Snooze in a drink (8,3) -7. Circle in a confection (8,4) -8. Transversely in a sport (8,5) -9. Flat in a President (9,5) -10. And the rest in a vegetable (9,3)
To waste one second of one's life is a betrayal of one's self. I wonder what's on television...?

You've got the ETC bit fine michele, but I can't find "vetching" in the dictionary Try a two-syllable vegetable with the ETC spread across the syllable break...
