There is no horseradish substitute. It has a very distinctive flavor that can't be replicated. Not ALL horseradish is hot - some of it is quite mild. If you are making a dish that calls for it and you don't like the taste, just leave it out.

And just FYI, wasabi can be very hot! I was just going to say - Don't go for the Wasabi! Speaking of Wasabi, has anybody had those Wasabi Peas? I used to really like them but haven't had them for a pretty long while now.

What are you making or eating that calls for horseradish?

I've had those wasabi peas in a nut mix before. It's very good. You can find it here. It's a very large can. I wouldn't pay Amazon's price, though. At our Grocery Outlet, the same thing costs eight dollars.

i hate heat. i am into mild foods. What's the recipe? Usually if you don't like the taste of something, just leave it out of the recipe.

I LOVE those wasabi peas, but they will definitely clear out your sinuses! I would suggest just leaving the horseradish out of the recipe.

Agree with Drac. Just leave the horseradish out if you want. But it might not add much heat mixed with all the other ingredients. Maybe just use less than the recipe calls for. First see if you can find a mild horseradish. It would definitely add to the flavor.
