Hello everybody. I hope you're all well. I think I am, despite the gods conspiring to squash my spirit. I was in the middle of doing laundry yesterday when my washing machine died on me. The thing is 12 to 15 years old, I'm not even sure. I know we bought them for mom right after I went to work for Lowe's. Anyway I decided that my best option was to buy a new one. It's next to impossible to get repairmen for appliances . This is where the great conspiracy begins. I toodle on in to my friendly neighborhood Lowe's to see what they had in washing machines. It was a short trip. They have no washing machines. Zero....Zip.....Nada! They couldn't even say when they expected to receive any. I worked for Lowe's for 9 years and never once saw a time when they were completely out of washing machines. Covid 19. So I drove down town to the local independent furniture/appliance store. He didn't have many either, but at least he had a few. Everybody is running out of them. I had to pay more. This guy wouldn't even match Lowe's 10% veteran discount. Of course not. He had me over a barrel. I made the purchase for a nice Whirlpool, which they just delivered. Still haven't got to the good part. Last night I pulled the old washer out, turned the water off, disconnected the hoses. Everything I could to be ready for the new delivery. Fast forward to this morning and I'm getting out of bed. I put my feet on the floor, and the floor feels very cold.....and wet, and I can hear water running. My entire bedroom was under at least an inch of water, my bathroom and laundry room a good inch and a half deep. Water was pouring out of the wall behind the washing machine. I had to get a wrench and run out to the street and shut off my water. Collect my thoughts for a minute. Numeral uno get a plumber. I called a plumber and he was out here in like an hour or less. Number two, go to Lowe's and rent a carpet cleaner. Yep, did that and spent the rest of the day trying to vacuum all the water out of my bedroom carpet. I have a fan on it, but it's still pretty wet. I'm hoping most of it dries overnight and I don't have to pull the carpet out of there. What a day! If I had to find a silver lining, I say absolutely I am so happy the laundry room and my bedroom and bathroom are on a lower elevation than the rest of the house, so I had no water in my kitchen, living room, or the other two rooms. Also my bedroom carpet is missing about 10lbs of dog hair and bird down that it had been hiding from me, and is probably cleaner now than it has been for the last 4 years. It also forced me to do some cleaning that I probably would not have done for a while longer. Did y'all know the if you clean your house absolutely spotless, and not even a speck of dust can be found (I've never had anything that clean), that you will still have to clean it again most likely before you die? I didn't know that......being the dirty, lazy, procrastinating bachelor that I am. What can I say? So at 68 I'm still learning I'm sorry to say. No wait! I'm pretty tired now. Tomorrow before I take that carpet cleaner back I want to clean my living room carpet. Have a super day tomorrow everyone. joe Edit: Oh yeah, also I chipped a tooth while chewing on a nut cluster.

Hello everyone. I hope you're all enjoying a great weekend. Well my bedroom carpet is still wet, but it is drying out. I've had two fans and the ceiling fan blowing in there for over 50 hours. I'm getting there. I got all of my wet rugs washed yesterday, and all of the wet towels that I put down, and I washed my comforter and sheets yesterday too, so I broke that new washer in good. I cleaned my living room carpet yesterday morning. My ceiling fan was on, and my thermostat was set on 70, and I still had sweat pouring from me as if I was one of those wet towels. That's how bad the humidity is right now. I walk outside and my glasses fog over. It's all clean and dry though, and I'm sleeping like a baby. We are in the 100s now for a while, so I expect to be in hibernation mode for a while. I'll take Missy for her walks. but other than that and buying groceries I don't expect to get out much at all. Connie have a safe trip home. Is it far? Soot those reorganization and cleanup projects are always a chore, but it sure feels better when they are done. Ana do you have any down time this weekend? I hope you're enjoying your little charges and not working too hard. TaintedFury I hope your doing well this weekend. Have a great day everyone. joe

Joe, I'm glad you got your house back to normal. I hope your heat wave breaks so you can enjoy at least part of the day outdoors. I have a regular Friday evening and Saturday late morning client now so I always work part of the weekend.
soot, Always! If I stay on track, I have tomorrow all to myself! Glad your garage project is getting there!
Hope your Saturday was great all!
