Easy - spot the bird - although some may be devious (but which?)... Take a couple if you like... Apolgies - these were more devious than I intended them to be. Hints below -1. Small architect's bird? -2. Bird Charlie Brown struggles with? (4) Charlie Brown had trouble with two rwcreational pursuits. One was kicking the football, what was the other? -3. Bird that has a quarrel, then another one? (7), wordplay 4 + 3 -4. Bird making Cockney's cry of anguish? -5. Bird that likes to play a prank? -6. Gas-fuelled bird, we're told? -7. Bird that helped out in the Crimean War? -8. Peter Green's bird? -9. Bird at the start of food processing chain? -10. Fairly fast bird? -11. Bird that is always complaining? -12. Ex-VPs bird? -13. Bird that shouts a warning? -14. Mr. Fields' little bird? -15. Bird that never flies straight? (4) Homophone -16. Ms Tortelli's bird? -17. Bird that likes to boast? -18. Army-ranked bird with aged baking material? (6) Think UK one-hit-wonder band from 1972 singing about the aged baking material -19. Bird that has to be told to act twice? -20. Standard rubbish for a bird? -21. Bird that destroyed octave? -22. Homer's bird? (3) What was Homer Simpson's full name? -23. Bird having endless regrets? -24. Rossini's kleptomaniacal bird?

Thanks, folks - Mrs Cue has impeccable taste! Good calls, gentlemen. I had "chickadee", but I'd completely forgotten about the dead canary (sounds like a Monty Python sketch!)

Good one, Lex! We're sitting here in the local pub, me with a pint of Guinness and waiting for my 12-hr slow-cooked shoulder of lamb. My replies may become (even) more error ridden as the evening wears on

michelle - two good ones! Cue - I guess you're thinking of homing pigeon, but I was thinking more of the yellow-skinned guy with the blue-haired wife (although "pigeon" is an as yet unclaimed answer ) Joan - "swallow" looks good to me, but I have an alternative to "thunderbird". The clue is based on gas being an autmotive fuel...

8. Albatross I trust that you only stayed in the pub until 10:00 pm, the time before which the government apparently believes you cannot catch coronavirus...!
