I never make "soup" out of them. I boil the noodles for about 3 minutes, drain them, then mix them with butter and the seasoning packet. Not very healthy, but I enjoy them this way and don't eat them very often.

I also read that some people do eat the noodles without cooking them first but that most people prefer them cooked.

I always drain the liquid off after having cooked the noodles too, because I prefer to eat them that way. I also only use a small amount of the seasoning packet because it's loaded with salt.

The directions are on the package. Boil the noodles in 2 cups of water for 3 minutes and add the seasoning pack when they are done. When I was working for the state, we called it gruel and lots of Ramen noodles were eaten at the end of the month waiting for paychecks!

Some people use them broken up as is in salads. Otherwise. they should be cooked according to directions.
