I know this isn't the type of game most of you play but has anyone? I bought it on sale some time ago because it looks cute. I decided to try it today. I got killed pretty fast but had already picked up a lot of stuff that I will have to collect again as I could not figure out how to save. It autosaved right at the beginning. It says I have to be in a hiding spot in order to save. I thought I was in two different places but I wasn't. There are slots that say "quicksave" but I don't know if that is different or not. If it is, I don't know how to do it either. Then when I got attacked, I really didn't know what I was supposed to be doing.

I think I could like the game though if I can get the hang of it.

I'm going to go hunt around in Google or GOG or Steam to see if I can find anything out but if anybody can tell me anything, I'd appreciate it. yes

EDIT: Well, I must not have been hiding right the first time. I have now hidden and found out how to Quick Save and regular Save. It pops up once you are hidden. I got a little further and got myself killed again. And then again. I can't quite get the hang of running away and getting to a hiding place without being seen. Can only play so much at a time for now. laugh It's fun though so far.

Sorry not to have replied sooner oldbroad, but glad to see that you figured it out. grin

It does look like a cute game, and a way to get into milder RPG's to get the hang of them. Running away and hiding are perfectly acceptable forms of defense in many Darkside games. We like to refer to it as guile or stealth. Makes it sound better than running away and hiding lol

Quick saves are a nice tool to have if you're immersed in the game and just want to do a save before performing an action that you're not too sure about. Many games will only hold one quick save slot, in other words every time you Quick Save, it overwrites the previous one. I usually keep a rotating set of 3 regular saves going, and use Quick Save just before I'm about to walk through a door, or engage an enemy, or something that might cause my untimely demise.

Have fun! thumbsup

Just found this full-on video walkthrough on YouTube in case you get stuck : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtB8BFsgqOM

This looks like one I need to get! As soon as I get my poor desktop with the dead motherboard rebuilt, I've already reserved it to download!

Thanks for the info Trail_Mystic. Unfortunately, I believe you can only Quick Save and Regular Save while you are hidden. It would be nice to be able to Quick Save at any time (like before I throw a bottle at a jail guards head, miss, and get killed lol). I don't believe there is any actual combat in the game other than doing that. You can knock the guards out for a minute to get closer to them to take something, and you can run and hide somewhere. I haven't actually gotten back to the game yet but I think I will right now.

Draclvr, I'm sure it will be too tame for you but I still think you'll like it as an adventure.

Oh, I love little games like this as a breather from my usual fare! Heck, before my desktop went down, I was playing Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare2!

Ah, it seems to be a "stealth" game, where you can only save in "safe" spots.

Hmmm, seems like this is one game that would benefit from a checkpoint save system.

Hope the walkthrough helps.

I've bookmarked the walkthrough but hope I won't need it. I am really having fun with it so far. Made it a little further today.

I'm so excited! After 4-1/2 hours I finally made it out of the jail and into the courtyard lol . Although, I think there is other stuff I need to go back and look at in the jail eek.

When I am looking around and the camera view changes, I am getting a little dizzy but it is worth it. I really like this game!!! yes

In fact, thinking about it, I KNOW I have to go back in there as I just got one of the keys that opens a bunch of doors hardwall. I was thinking only of one area I know I didn't look at. Oh well. grin

Glad to see you are having fun with it oldbroad grin

Your not alone on the camera dizziness issue. If I've been away from gaming for certain period of time, and I go into a first person view, it takes me a couple hours for my eyes to get used to the landscape and objects passing by.

You see I started this game in November and it is now July. After playing several days in November I didn't play until February and after a few days in February, I have started playing again in July. I love the game but not getting motion sick so I tend to not play. Today I finally leveled up to Level 2 whatever that even means. I have NO skills and have 5 quests going, with no quests complete. lol

I really do love the game though!! yes It is so cute!!

Draclvr, did you ever go ahead and try it?

I will have to check out the game at some point. It really does look cute.

Level 2 means that you are gaining in experience and it will benefit you in some way from here on out, but not knowing anything else about the game, I can't know what it means specific to this particular game.

I'm actually making some progress now and have some "completed" quests. Only one big one and then some that practically did themselves but still, I am so happy! happydance

One problem I have though is that I keep hitting my "Windows" key on my keyboard while trying to hit shift and yesterday something else also popped up. I think I hit something in "search" maybe? I don't know. Anyway, after that I noticed my character Tilo was not moving right so I thought I messed up the game. I closed it up and re-opened it and he still wasn't moving right. Then it dawned on me - I had put this heavy chest armor on him and it was weighing him down. lol

It sounds like you're having fun! That's funny about the chest armor - that would explain the slowdown, for sure. grin

It's a very nice feeling to know that you are getting the hang of a game where the genre is a little out of your comfort zone, isn't it? smile

Well, my fun just took a turn. I am currently stuck under a table, literally. It is not a hiding spot and I cannot save but I cannot get out from under here. I have picked up items I need and will lose them if I just exit out of the game. Hoping maybe a little break will help. frown

You might try posting about this in the Steam forum for the game - another player might be able to help, or possibly the developer if they still read posts there.

Thanks Marian. Some how I finally managed to get out of there. I just kept clicking different things (on my keyboard and in the game). Then I got greedy and grabbed something else and had to run under the table again and was briefly stuck again. After that I left whatever else there was and ran like the devil!

oldbroad, is this the first Action-type game you've played? It sounds like a good one to start with, to get the hang of stealth, and action and levelling up. Glad you're enjoying it.

Before you know it you'll be swinging a longsword along with the rest of us!

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I've played a few games with some light action - fighting, running, hiding, stealth, dying in them but not too many. I'm sure I'll never get the hang of anything too heavy duty though, and while a lot of these games look good to me and I buy some of them, they cause me motion sickness so I rarely reach for them when I'm looking for a game to play. I just can't resist buying them though. This game is just so cute though, I am determined to finish it.

I know what you mean about the dizziness. Some games seem to be worse than others. Cyberpunk got me a few times when I was racing around on my bike, and anything aerial can provoke a bit of vertigo.

I agree. I just wish I could get unstuck and continue to play it! You see I started it two years ago, though to be honest, I have not gone back to it for awhile. I hate being stuck in a game that I like so much duh.

I’ve been and got it, too 👍

I’m not very good with “stealth” but this game looks so irresistibly cute I’ll just HAVE to give it a go !! 🤗

Thanks for the notice, Marian 😑😑😑
