Dear Friends, "...........we need to find a title for our new and rather intriguing project. So we have already invented a number of various names, but it is rather difficult to choose the one most suitable for it. Please find below the brief story of the game and the list of titles we managed to think out. You may choose one of ours or suggest yours - we will appreciate all your ideas! Thank you very much for your attention. Story: Calm and quiet life of a provincial town was broken by a mysterious epidemic desease. Local authorities send to the town several people to stop this process: a doctor, an inquisitor and an army commander. Along with this disaster there in the town three political groups are struggling for power. To survive in this town a character should choose one of the three ways out: he/she should either find an effective remedy, kill everyone infected or help one of the political fractions to come to power. And no other escape. Conceivably this strange desease was a kind of punishment from above for the desobedience to the Gods. The main building in the game is a Polyhedron, made by a number of enthusiasts and which had a mysterious power and abilities. The figure 2 has a sacred sense in the game: three fractions, three centers in the town, three ways to survive and etc. Generally the idea of the game has a strong phylosophical background and the development team strives to make an absolutely absorbing gameplay. Well, the list of our variants: Panacea Pestilence Desperate Hope Soilsore Dream Defeated Deliverance City of the Damned Crisis Forbidden Miracle Decay....looking forward to receive your reply as soon as possible! Cheers! " ----------------------------------------------- I'm sure you dedicated Boomers can help out with no problem at all! I'm not sure what genre this game is yet, but I'm not sure it matters that much when directing attention toward selecting a title! Have at it, gang!

I like the title Deliverance.
It is a strong word. I always think one word titles are the easiest to recall for buyers and also to market. ALso it doesn't imply what choice is better in the game - but has a positive aura to it. You are victorious if you can deliver. It also would work well whether the game is a RPG, Strategy, Action, Adventure or hybrid game.

After reading your synopsis of the game; none of those title seemed to connect for me ... I guess because the first word that popped into my head was Triad.......but then, that's just me, sorry. Inferno

Not too shabby, inferno! I don't think there's any rule against suggesting a new titlefrom what I'm reading above....even if they'd primarily like for us to select from the list. Love, Witchen =O) I like "Triad"

Hi. Choosing from the list, I too would go for "Deliverance" as the most evocative <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" /> Cheers. Mad

Hey, I like that Witchen! Or here, I'll throw another one out: Redemption.

Well I couldn't think for a minute - Still laughing at Quisitor's post OK - I have to admit, banjo playing, slack jawed mutants did cross my mind with the deliverance title. I like Redemption, here's another that that title brought to mind. Judgement Day. This certainly is a fun thread. Though maybe someone should have warned Buka Ent. what they might get when they asked for input from this group. Laura

It's too bad that it's such an unmarketable word, because "Trilemma" means "choice between 3 unwelcome things". I've worked the three angle over repeatedly in my head, and now I'm stuck with Triumph over Trials and Tribulations. Yes, tri as I might, the dumbness in my brain is starting to win out. OK, for real, how about "Countdown from Quarantine"? As for the proposed names, what's with "Deliverance"?! If killing everyone is Buka's idea of deliverance, remind me not to invite them to visit me in the hospital. Personally, I LIKE "Soilsore". YES, it sounds like diaper rash, but they could change the description to "an epi DERMic disease" and really run with this puppy. .... Am I demonstrating why no developers have yet employed me? Jack

Survival is an excellent idea too. There's already one out though. Its an older combat/strategy game by Activision for Win95/98. Survival would work with a subtitle though, doncha' think? Love, Witchen =O)

Thinking along the Tri line like Singer, how about Trillium something. There's a book called "Black Trillium," but maybe something like Trillium Lost or Trillium Passing or

The very first word that came up into my mind, even before I read your titles was: Pestilation. I read the boek la Peste from Albert Camus and it learned me how people can change when they are in fear for such an illness.Simply people became heroes and intelligent and respected men became cowards. Not speaking about them who were doing what had to be done, without asking themselves what could be their own risks. It was such a captivating story, that showed the deepest feeling of men. Feelings that you never would have known, if not in that special situation. josefien

PESTILENCE = 1. a deadly epidemic disease. 2. That which produces or tends to produce epidemic disease. 3. the bubonic plague So, how about Pestilence from the Gods or something like that? City of the Damned would be my 2nd choice. I like Witchen's first 2 suggestions too. You guys are so funnnnnnnny! You just keep me ROTFLMAO Love, Betty Lou

That's a good point, quistor, but I think Stephen King already has the copyright on "It". Besides, not ALL of us are brainwashed (must... Buy... All... Adventure... Games... And what if someone is offended by the word "[blip]"? Maybe it should be Village of the Darned Jack

What's wrong with combining some of the suggested titles? I kinda like "Soilsore: City of the Damned" or maybe "Pestilence: Decay of Desperate Hope"? In all seriousness (if that's possible at this point) I think they should go with something short and easy to remember. I like "Retribution" (good one, Witchen!) or maybe "Pandemic". Daysleeper

How about "The Bukan Triangle"?
Or one of my favourite film titles "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies"?
Or something like "Tromaville 2003"?
Used to answer to "Peter Smith", now answers to "Peter Rootham-Smith"

Witchen, can you ask them for another list?
It's beginning to appear that a list of titles they have already considered and rejected would be more useful.

LOL I'm not sure that Buka will understand all this cryptic humor, guys, but I am sure they will much appreciate the marvelous creative input and wonderful title ideas. As for a list of "titles they've already considered," I'm sure a certain number of repeats is to be expected and Buka can readily recognize any new and brilliant ones from the list Gameboomers' provides and compare them with their own files. However, they are reading this thread, so perhaps they'll consider sharing a list a good idea. Best wishes, Witchen =O)

My vote is for:
Town Name: The Retribution
For example:
TRILLIUM: The Retribution
(I like the name Trillium, whoever came up with that!)
PLAYING ON PC: World of Warcraft...nothing else...there is no need for ANY other game when you have THIS one to play!! LOL

OK, gotcha, Witchen. We'll be much more blatant with our jokes from now on. Most of my alternate names sound like incredibly hokey Agatha Christie titles : Death Comes in Threes, Third Hand of Fate, etc. I need Random House here, not Buka. How about Trident Virus? Jack

Hi there gang........More good input! Happy to see that. About "Trillium" though.....That's the name of a popular Swedish lily, I'm sure most gardeners will recognize the name. Trillium, both white and purple, grows wild in Washington State, btw, and in cooler climates all around the world. Might not envoke the appropriate image for this game, huh? Love, Witchen =o)

Reading a little of the story it has something to do with what the Gods have done to this small town. So, A title with God. Maybe like:
CURSE OF THE GODS and since the town is infected by a disease, how about, OUTBREAK. I think there was a movie called Outbreak, about small town that was infected with a desease starting Steven Segal. OR A TOWN'S DESTINY, DESTINY OF A TOWN, OR THE FAITH OF A TOWN.
Boomers have listed quite good ones so far it is going to get hard to choose from. Oh wait I thought of another one ABUSIVE POWER... OR EPICDEMIC.

Just to cloud the picture a little more, there's already a recent action game called Codename: Outbreak, so I'm not sure how eager Buka should be to include that in a title. Also, I just had to mention that the trillium is Ontario's provincial flower. ... Yes, there's no end to the perfectly useless trivia you can pick up here at GameBoomers. So how about "Pushing Up Trilliums"? (Whoops, you've all just witnessed my last ounce of good taste completely obliterated...) Jack

Hmmm....try these...
EPIDEMIC: The Deliverance of (town name) or Damnation of (town name)
Or use Plague instead of Epidemic....Plague seems more Biblical, Epidemic is sort of modern.
Game sounds really interesting, can't wait!!

Outbreak was Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo and the monkey that was also on Friends (Yipes!). There is no copyright on names so anyone can use them.

How 'bout "The Plague - There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 3 ways out of the City of the Damned" If they make a sequel, it can be called "Beyond the plague of (town name, but please not "Atlantis") II, a return to the City of the Damned" Louis

Okay...from the titles given, I will put my vote in for City of the Damned. Will see if something else pops in my head but I did spend a whole day shopping so it is pretty empty right now. Sounds like a cool game tho. Reminds me kinda of the movie Outbreak. Thanks kid

I like Scourge. It makes me think of the flagellants in the Middle Ages who thought they could end the Plague by scourging themselves.
Who is the typical buyer of this game? There are people who are attracted to stark frightening names with a hint of violence. On the other hand, there are (timid, snobbish, squeamish?) people who would be put off by such a name. I would probably not buy a game called "Pestilence" for instance because it sounds uncomfortable, if not downright horrific. Maybe a more middle-of-the-road title (say, "Retribution") -- less putrid-sounding, evoking an emotion everyone understands.
On the other hand, I think some talented Boomer should definitely develop a game named "Beyond the Plague of Atlantis II: Return to the City of the Damned" strictly for whimsical reasons.
