More Tom Swifties. (For example "I'll have a martini," said Tom, drily.) As ever, grovelling apologies for any re-runs Some of these are very clever and quite tough, so being all heart, I've given you first letter and length as a starter · As ever, an asterisk represents a "real" hyphen. One answer each for first 24 hours, please. -1. "Thanks for stoking up the fire", said Tom g--------- -2. "I'm not sure how many of those little pink things I have on the end of my feet" said Tom, t------ c------- -3. "Yes, that's the prisoners dog" Tom c-------- -4. "I'm flaked out doing all those auto emission tests", said Tom e---------- -5. "I can't walk, I have a small wart on my toe," said Tom l----- -6. "He - ate - all - of - the - dried - meat," said Tom j------ -7. "I live in this incredibly upmarket garret," said Tom l------ -8. "You can borrow my eBook reader", said Tom k----- -9. "Life is pretty good as a rustler", said Tom, t----- s---- -10. "No arguments - I am the King", Tom r---- (think of a verb for what a King does, also means to make a decision / lay down the law etc.)

Bernie, flotsam, Lax - all good! (flotsam - yours was better than mine - I had "lamely") oldbroad - very close - keep at it! The "con" bit is good, what you need is a short word meaning "dog" (in the widest sense) ... and it might help that Tom seems to be agreeing...
To waste one second of one's life is a betrayal of one's self. I wonder what's on television...?
