Hair loss? I hadn't heard of that one before but I would think it's better than breathing problems anyway.

In the city and county I live in, masks are again required indoors, vaccinated or not. Public schools start next week. We'll see what happens. I thought Lollapalooza would cause big problems but it doesn't seem like it did.

Kitty is doing much better. My brother did cancel her follow up appointment. Have to save that for when it's really needed.

Have a good day everyone! wave

Oh dear Ana, We are all feeling better. I don't think we had Covid, but no one went to the doc as we all stay home as much as possible. Took about a week for most of us. I'm thinking it was RSV as the kids in AL have started school and it is rampant in the south. I hope everyone in your family gets better very quickly. Gentle hugs to you!

I'm glad everyone seems t0 be recovering from their illnesses, including your kitty, oldbroad.

I'd stopped riding my bike during the heat waves this summer, but we've had some cooler weather so I've started again. Today I did really beautiful 40 minute ride through somewhere in Spain, along a river and up into a marvelous old town that wound up a hillside. Some of the oldest building were clearly Moorish in origin. The narrow streets had open-air cafes and restaurants. It was very appealing -- makes me wish I could actually go there.

Our family doctor, who also happens to be the cancer pain specialist for this part of the Island, has started my husband on Ketamine, which is supposed to increase the effectiveness of the pain medications he's on. Fingers crossed, because we've been disappointed before, but yesterday, which was only day two, we were able to go to our bubble neighbour's place for Happy Hour and he was even able to stay for dinner and hang around afterwards, which was really nice, because he's been basically stuck in bed for two months. He'll be starting chemo again in early September, as the oncologist feels that there's still life left in old chassis after all.

I hope the Ketamine works hagatha! Is it normal to give Chemo for pain treatment? You said his cancer has not grown. I don't think I'd like that.

Mad - I don't know how I started with both coffee and tea. I wasn't even a coffee drinker until around 25 years ago. Tea just doesn't seem to have much flavor for me anymore even though I drink some different ones. Somehow I started the one cup of each. I drink the coffee while my tea steeps. Sometimes I have a taste for another cup of coffee later but every time I give in to that, I seem to regret it.

Oldbroad, yes, chemo can help control pain. Basically, the main goal here is to limit growth and get his pain levels down. Of course, the hip fracture didn't help, and he says that most of the pain is from the fracture right now, so I suppose as that heals things will improve, too.

Mad, I have one cup of chai in the morning (a loose-leaf, very peppery chai) first, and then I switch to coffee. The tea is for thirst-quenching, whereas the coffee is life-giving. grin

Dental update: Spent 2 1/2 hrs at dentist Monday morning. She had to work on the last tooth on the left side of my bottom jaw. Because of my childhood surgeries, it is a challenge to keep my mouth open wide for any length of time. The water used to keep the area clear while she worked kept running down and irritating my throat. After a few minutes, we worked out a system that helped me calm down so she could work without a lot of interruptions. As you may imagine, it was difficult to chew a lot for the next couple of days. Reminded me of my childhood days when I had braces, and was sore for days after having them tightened. Every time that happened, it was an automatic that we'd have spaghetti for dinner. In fact, that's what I had for dinner on Monday lol Go back in another month for the permanent tooth. What fun!! rolleyes

Mon and Tues got an tire pressure 'alert' in my car. Stopped at 2 tire places yesterday. First one told me I had to wait until 3 pm for her to have time to look for the nail. Insisted that was the problem. Had a bad feeling about the place. Didn't like the lady who spoke to me and workers were somber. Probably wanted to charge me for looking for a problem that wasn't there. The man at the second one checked the air pressure in the tires, said they were overinflated and released the excess. He explained why the alert went on, and showed me how to reset the calibration in my car. No biggie. Phew!

Otherwise things are pretty good, though sad that Fall is approaching. I like Fall, just not what comes after it! grin

Butterflybabe, I'm having a back molar removed on Tuesday, and a bone graft and an implant installed where my second-last back molar used to be. I also have problems with the water spray making me feel like I'm drowning. I constantly have to swallow and I'm always afraid I'll move the dentist's hand! I learned many years ago to slow my breathing and put myself into a meditative state so I didn't get too anxious, and that has worked for me very well. I'm looking forward to having the gap filled -- you can't see that a tooth is missing, but chewing has been a problem for a year.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Nice day here, if a bit windy. I was going to do some weeding later today, but somehow after my ride I just feel like having a nap. tired I'll have to do it tomorrow instead.

I've been reading about the hurricane headed for Louisiana. I hope none of you are at risk. It looks bad.

Good morning, things are finally calming down here. The new roof is finally completed and workmen are gone. I spent a few days cooking what was in the freezer . We have quite a few large ice bags in the freezer as we go to the shopping area and Costco, which is an hour away... so the ice helped keep the freezer down to at least what the refrigerator would be so I just cooked like a crazy person for two days. Thor it turned out at a bone from the short ribs that the workers were eating.. it was stuck in the small intestine. The vet gave us a tube of what the use for cat fur balls.. 3mm twice a day and two days later... there it was... that is when I looked around where they were eating and we found a baggie full!!!!! I may loose a few pounds as they put the loaner refrigerator down stairs.... I am certainly getting my exercise.... looking forward to an uneventful weekend....
