mbday, I so sorry for the loss of your friend. It's so hard when they go.
Draclvr, I love the story about the mini horses. What a great thing for kids.
butterflybabe, I'm glad you've managed to get through your PT and out the other side with some decent mobility. We're seeing first-hand now just how debilitating life is when you walk properly. My husband is only now able to actually walk down the stairs normally, without clinging to the bannister with both hands, for the first time since he fell, and he can take a few steps without his walker. I guess the changes come slowly as you build up the muscles again and get your balance.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Another heat wave. Ugh. Normally just having a fan running at night is enough, but I was awake about every half hour, it was so hot last night.
Today I'm off to have look at and listen to the heat pump we're thinking of installing. I need to make sure it's as quiet as advertised so I don't bug the neighbours. The new individual room pumps are extremely quiet, but the one we're looking at would be through the ducts in the house and would also be our heat in the winter, so it's larger.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

And as I said, hagatha, see if the "warm" air they put out in the winter is actually warm. I hated ours because it put out room temperature air which made the room feel so cold while it was running. I know they've been improved a lot since then though. I think the way things are going, you can expect a lot more heat waves in the future.

The heat pump is extremely quiet, so quiet you actually have to be standing right beside it to hear it.
As for the heating ability, Draclvr, it's probably fine for our maritime climate. We rarely get temperatures below -5 F here, and if we do it's usually only for a night or so. We also have a massive gas fireplace that heats most of the house in about 15 minutes (it's actually too hot -- an expensive mistake on our part, though it looks beautiful). However, on your suggestion I will check out the amount of heat we can expect from the pump. I do know that the cooling isn't the same as air conditioning -- it's more subtle, which in my opinion is far better than a blast of arctic air in the living room. My sister heats and cools her older house with a heat pump since the original furnace died a couple of years ago, and her house is not nearly as well insulated as our newer house. And of course I'll be checking online reviews as well.
Finally, we have some rain. The garden needs it!

Fixed hubby his Saturday morning biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon breakfast. Sitting down for a quick cup of the Sumatra dark roast and then I have to start my food prep for visitors today. My goddaughter, husband and their three little boys are coming out today. Hubby is doing some beer in the rear chickens. Going to be nice and hot, so I'm sure they'll be in the pool most of the time!
Have a great day, everyone!

So, regarding that clip of Pebble the Cockatoo and her pal Kelly that I linked above, they have their own YouTube channel, and it's quite entertaining. Pebble went through ten owners before Kelly adopted her, so she has a sketchy past, which explains the explosive foul rants she sometimes goes into. A previous owner was obviously verbally abusive towards someone, and Pebble picked up not only the spoken language, but also the body language, which is darned near perfect.
It's interesting to see that as the years go by, she is less and less frantic and goes into fewer rants. He's very calm with her, and she's not nearly as excitable. Kelly looks like a sweet guy who loves his birds. Anyway, loads of fun.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning! Survived the onslaught of 3 little boys yesterday and had a great time. Don't get to see my god daughter very often, so it was really fun. The boys had fun "tomato hunting" and at least that patch is picked clean. I'm heading out to the paste tomato forest this morning.

Had a great, sweaty run at the park. Then played Smash Up with the family. Now thinking of daughter who is on a plane with 2 little ones going to a funeral and resting while son makes Jalepeno Popper sandwiches with tomato soup for dinner. Then I'm coming to bed while Someone Else does dishes and read a book! Hope you all have a wonderful night
