I was never able to finish Gothic 3. I started it twice, and both times it started to crash constantly. This was two different computers, mind you -- the second computer being my Alienware laptop. In the end I just gave up. Too bad. It was a good game and I was enjoying it.

I loved Gothic 2, the vanilla version, and even played Gothic NOTR and enjoyed it. The version I'm playing now, Gothic 2 Gold Classic (Steam) seems even more difficult or maybe because I'm a lot older. I should have installed my DVDs for Gothic 2. I was being killed by everything. Now that I've played a while, it is more enjoyable. It does take quite a while grinding to get better stats. I've learned a lot and enjoyed exploring all the original map available and may soon go to the Valley of the Mines.

That's really too bad about Gothic 3, hagatha. I have a friend who played it for at least 200 hours after applying the patches, and all was well.

I played Gothic 3 and was able to finish it. The beginning was a madhouse, I couldn't believe what was happening and knew that something was wrong with the game. After many tries, I got past that part and I don't remember any other problems. I didn't measure up to Gothic 3 but was enjoyable.
