Unfortunately, I don't have my Amerzone game any more. Have you tried the ESC key?

I found this information online: Save Game: • During the game, press the "Escape" key to access the main menu. Click on "save" and you'll enter a room with empty spaces on the walls. Click on one of these spaces to save. Once saving is complete, you will automatically re-enter the game. • To overwrite a saved game: Click on an old saved game which you don't want to keep. • You are in the saving room but you don't want to save anymore: Click on the ceiling to resume play So try Draclvr's suggestion and hit the escape key to take you to the main menu - you should then be able to quit the game from there.
