A dark first-person psychological thriller, set in 1944 Italy, that blurs the lines between reality, superstition and the tragedy of war and an exploration of loss,
relationships and the psychological undertones of a dark period of history. Pull in a few bits from the relevant Steam page – “Martha is dead, and her twin sister Giulia,
the young daughter of a German soldier, must alone deal with the acute trauma of loss and the fallout from her murder” and a hunt for the truth that is
“shrouded by mysterious folklore” – and there you have it.

Except you don’t. Not nearly.

Thank you very much for the review, flotsam. It sounds a difficult game to review given the subject matter, yet your review is very fair-minded. The game is not for me, but you provided a very interesting read. thumbsup

And thank you too, Drac. wave

I've read and (of course) reviewed flotsam's review of Martha is Dead while converting to HTML and I think I've finally settled on the question of why would there be a "game" that is so disturbing. I would think this one would have such a small audience that it would be hard for it to be a success. I am somewhat puzzled... we are a pretty diverse and large group of gamers here and I'm thinking there won't be many of us to whom it will appeal.

Great review.
One thing not mentioned, though, and it's something which is almost always important to me as an adventure gamer: the environments are almost completely photo-realistic, and beautifully rendered in MID. Just gorgeous. BUT: they will tax your PC if it's not a later model (my desktop Dell PC is 3 years old, so it's not the "newest", but it IS powerful). And even on my PC, the less-than-perfect optimization causes a TON of fan-grinding noise: it will tax most any video card to the MAX (especially if you, like me, like to max out all your graphics settings in a game). No FPS stuttering (I top my FPS settings at 60 in every game), and almost no crashes in the game, so it IS programmed quite well. But it will tax your rig so make sure you check the recommended requirements. This isn't an old Sierra game made for Win 7 :-)

Drac, for me a game like this sounds interesting because I like to know what makes people tick. I don't know if the game would actually tell me anything but that thought is what draws me to some of these games. Of course, as you all know, I buy a lot of games that never get played.

robedits, so please tell us what you think of the game itself.

robedits, that's exactly why we always include the PC requirements, both Minimum and Recommended, in these reviews.

Yeah, I get that, oldbroad. I've played a few that weren't all sunshine and roses and delved into complicated subjects, but this one gives me pause.

I mainly play PC games for entertainment and relaxation. So many of the more recent new Adventures have just not been for me.
And this looks like another.

But without your valuable reviews, flotsam, I wouldn't be able to tell. And I thank you very much praise
[And you too, Draclvr.]
