I have been mainly and carefully following Mag's walkthrough so feel pretty confident I should have done everything I need to do up to this point.

This is from a disc, not a download or anything.

Where I am stuck:
I just got the grease and old dinasaur skin from the market.
I have ridden the monorail to the Academy, which is supposed to be open. However, when Ariane goes up the steps she just says "closed" and can't get in.

There is a lady sitting on a bench in front, but I can't interact with her in any way.

I know I am probably missing something really obvious. Can anyone help me out?

TIA!

kiraalt,

Be sure that you have talked completely to Amanda and that she has left the pharmacy. That you also finished talking to Adam and has given his medicine he wanted.
Then more importantly, he gives the aerial map and you have looked at it in the computer.
Then talk completely with the balloonist. Also click on the broken pipe of the furnace of the balloon - rather look close at the balloon machine. luck

Thank you so much. I had done everything but examined the damage to the balloon. I am having a bit of a challenge positioning Ariane correctly to look at it up close. The hand appears showing it is a hot spot, but she isn't doing anything but turning in circles. I will continue to work on it. Once I get that accomplished, that should do the trick. Thanks again.

I cannot believe I need help again, but I do. wink I got in the academy, talked to Armada. Also talked with Wallace and the Rector. Got all the things I needed to get from there, including the helium bottle. Went back to the city. Watched the film framing our heroine. Fixed the camera and talked to the gatekeeper, who agreed to let her leave. When I go to the rail car though, the little dino is out of the cage and jumping around, so it won't headscratch go anywhere. I am assuming this is the rail car I ride back to Adam's hut to get the eggs, but how? There is no more fruit - do I coax the little guy into the wheel some other way or am I totally off base here? thanks

Never mind. Must've been a temporary glitch. I clicked on the rail car a few times and now I am back to be able to get where I need to. I think my old piece o [blip] computer is having some delay issues with this game.

Still having issues with game totally crashing and shutting down at the point where Ariane encounters the force field when she first attempts to enter the Giant village. Tried everything. Hoping that a save will get me past and enable me to continue on.

Land of the Giants:
Looking for a saved game at exactly where Ariane has talked to the giant, laid down her weapons to get past the force field and just entered the village.

A couple questions first though to rule out once and for all if I missed something as far as gameplay:
When you talk to Amanda initially at the pharmacy to get Adam's potion and tell her what Hercules needs. She has to go to the university. Is the ticket supposed to disappear from inventory when you do the ticket dialogue? Mine doesn't and I couldn't seem to "manually" give it to her. She leaves and everything seems to progress fine as it should from there.

Also, I have news updates on the computer for June 6, then June 8 and so on. But none for June 7. Is there supposed to be one with that date and I missed it somewhere? If so, what do I need to go back to to initiate it?

TIA!

I don't have my saves with me on the laptop I'm using.

But one thought - are you laying down all the weapons you are carrying on the ground before entering the forcefield?
Try this, also be sure that the you are warned to leave your weapons either by the giant or the pilot of the balloon.

I can't remember about the ticket. It might be that you need it when you do use the metro.

Thanks once again for your tremendous help.

I should add this is a game from a disc, not the downloaded version. Maybe I should purchase that? I hate to spend the money for a game I already own though!

That is just my problem. I never am able to get the warning/dialogue about laying down the weapons. She begins to walk left to the village gate. I can't see the entrance or any place to put the sharp objects down. Am I not positioning her correctly? I see a rock formation and grass in the lower left corner, and a bit of a path above that. I walk her toward the path left screen. She doesn't say anything, there are footprints by the rock (it just stops her in front of it) and path, but no "hand" hotspots. I just continually get "game.exe has experienced a problem and needs to close." smashpc hardwall It may just be my crappy old system and I am SOL until I get a new one or add RAM. It seems at that point it is "sensing" she encounters the force field correctly, but that causes it to crash!

The place to lay it down is if you're facing the force field gate - a bit to the right and bottom of Ariane.

Try and see if you can do it now.
If not, talk to both the giant man tending the mammoths and the pilot again. I think I did that first time or replay to make it stick in my mind. luck

I don't think the download will be better. Hopefully you get through.

Thanks for all your patience and help everyone. This is one of the nicest boards - ever.

I have come to the conclusion that my system is just too old and does not have sufficient memory and that is the problem. I may have to just give up until I add RAM or get a better computer.

Cathy my specs are:
System Manufacturer Compaq Presario 061
System Model PX787AA-ABA SR1503WM NA530
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1 GenuineIntel ~2933 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD 3.08, 5/9/2005
SMBIOS Version 2.4
Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS
System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume2
Locale United States
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)"
Total Physical Memory 256.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 64.51 MB
Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB

Rice burner - yes! I picked up the hairs and got the pipe herbs. But can never make it to the gate or get a dialogue about laying down the weapons.

ETA: I went ahead and tried the download game. It worked! I am not sure what the issue was - maybe my CD-Rom version was corrupted/damaged or I didn't get a good install. Anyway, I am just glad I finally got what I needed and can proceed! happydance thanks
