I read in a post a while ago that some Gameboomers members had a problem playing this game after downloading from GamersGate. Has anyone ever had succes playing it? I am considering purchasing it, but would like assurance that it will work.

I haven't heard of anyone having sucess at playing the game. I downloaded the game from GamersGate a while ago and couldn't get it to run and was refunded my money. MaG had trouble with the game also. Stay away from the game.

I'm writing the review for this game. I've just finished it.
The download, saving and loading issues for the game have been resolved. I had no problems downloading or playing the game at all.

I got it from Gamers Gate

I initially had the same problems, but I was determined to get the game fixed. So, I worked with the webmaster from GG (he was in touch with either the publisher or the developer and eventually they fixed both the download and a few essential parameters of Aurora. It works perfectly fine now.

Hi smile

I hardly ever download games and so am very unfamiliar with "the rules" .... but I AM interested in Aurora and have been waiting to buy it since my first attempts at doing so last year .... when I ended up getting a full refund because the game couldn't be supplied - even though it was advertised as for sale woozy

So, can anyone tell me whether, if I do buy the download, I can then copy it to a CD ??

Or would that not be allowed ??

Cheers.

Mad,

Some do allow a backup copied disk but in some cases that is not feasible because some has a security code that checks everytime you open the game. I do not think it carries to a copied disk.
I might be wrong and I'm sure someone will correct me.

I want this game to but am wary of buying it as a down load would prefer the disk .

We have a member now that is playing the game - so I think it's ok since I don't think it is available in disk yet.

Hi MaG smile

I like to buy a game I'm interested in as soon as I can after its release in case it later disappears eek but I'm not personally keen on downloads of whole games because of what can go wrong "during" and "after" .... and the possible difficulties of getting such problems resolved think

Also, I don't want to have to have a game "sitting on my machine" as I might not decide to play it for quite some time.

There are so many reasons I prefer the freedom a disk offers lol

Cheers.

I'm with you Mad for all the reasons you stated. I wait for the disk no matter how long. If it does not come out, well then we find something else. Because of the disk I can still pull games like Kyrandia off the shelf and play it without getting corporate permission.

Hi oldmariner grin

"Because of the disk I can still pull games like Kyrandia off the shelf and play it without getting corporate permission"

Well, the "corporate permission" issue obviously hasn't served as a total deterrent (an issue that has already been discussed on this board several times wink) but yes, it is one of the things that deter me rolleyes

Cheers.
