I find that I'm more reluctant to play the scary games than I used to be. I loved Dark Fall, Shivers, Blackstone Chronicles for example, but now find myself reluctant to get into a spooky game. It's sort of like the roller coaster rides. I loved them in my youth, now I can't imagine putting my body through the shock of those falls. Maybe it's just an age thing. I loaded up Scratches DC with some trepidation. I'm not sure I want to expose my psyche to one of the scariest games out there. In general, I avoid any kind of horror/suspense entertainment when possible. Accordingly, I've been tip-toeing my way around Blackwood Manor, almost too afraid to look at things and open doors. Silly, isn't it? Unfortunately, many of my new games involve these elements (Loath Nolder, Lost Crown, Beyond the Spirit's Eye). It seems that because scary lends itself to 1st person view, many of those games have a spooky suspense theme.

I did not find Lost Crown to be in that category Colpet. In fact other than one icky scene that wasn't a "Boo" type of scary, just a bit unsettling, I found it to be a very relaxing game. Ana

Ms. Tigre, either I'm a wimp or you have nerves of steel. "Relaxing" was not my experience in Lost Crown. Though, now that I think about it, I didn't have that "lurking dread" feeling that I got in Scratches and Darkness Within. More of a "I know something really odd is bound to happen here" kind of feeling.

I mainly dont like things that jump out at me, I grew up with a very violent dad, and those bother me, the sudden jumping out... I must love missery though cause I play them anyway!!! I dont mind the suspense feeling, though.... I love the Alfred HitchCock type movies, but I admit I just played scratches and Left the light on, and at one point had to turn on the tv for some different kind of background sound.. starting Dead reefs right now, wonder if there is much scary stuff in it?? Scratches and Loath Nolder are one of my favourite horror games. Still I remember the terror I felt going down the basement in both games!

I think the scariest game I've played thus far is DarkFall...The Journal. It was pretty creepy, the whispering really got to me, and it made chill bumps go up the back of my neck. I loved it! If you have any games to recommend, feel free to send the info to me. Terri

Hi, colpet I do respect the fact that you do not like scary games... I have found none that I would say scared me to death where I wouldn't want to play it....Or I thought the game was in bad taste... I do Love :All the Last Half Of Darkness games: I guess its the players preference....

I think Barrow Hill was really scary. Walking in the dark in the woods with the bushes rustsling really freaked me out.

Sherryah, downloaded the game from HERE in the Galore section. I used the first download on top of the page, not the one at the bottom. But when you start the game, it says using the Wintermute engine. The game has speech. Did not see any mention about Vista. Download and see, I guess. And there is a nice WALKTHROUGH if needed. Have fun. Chief

Dragon we each have our preception on what scary is, for me I quit the game in the 2nd chapter because I found it boring. At least the lost crown made me jump a few times with surprises. The scariest thing I found was the dead mice we had to keep picking up the cat drug in and we had to flush the mice down the toilot. Now for me that is a big Just my opinion Sherryah EDIT.................. Thanks Chief just saw you responded to my question. Will download it and try it out.

I was just getting ready to buy Rhiannon. Dragon what are your thoughts on it so far? Sherryah....are you talking about Rhiannon being boring in your post? The game is rather pricey if I don't like it so any thoughts on it would be appreciated. Thanks. I like scary too although to be honest these days I just want my game to be good, exciting and worth the money I spend to purchase it as money is quite tight these days and there is nothing like spending 29.99 on a game that is boring and not very good. Any thoughts on Rhiannon would be appreciated. So far I read really good things about it....so Sherryah your comment really surprised me.
PS Thanks Chief...downloading now!!
