Obviously inspired by the 'eating while gaming' thread, I wonder how many people are working out while gaming? I often spend my lunch hour on an exercise bike while playing a game. Unfortunately this is not really possible with PC games, but I have a PlayStation 2 with a couple of adventures (Myst III, Atlantis III, Glass Rose, Largo Winch, Shadow of Destiny), and ofcourse it also plays my old PS1 games like Amerzone, Broken Sword, China, Discworld, Dracula, Egypt, Riven, The Sacred Amulet and Versailles and an Xbox with Still Life.
This way, I do not get bored during my exercise and I can pretend to be cycling through the most exotic environments imaginable in stead of my boring old living room. The controllers are either wireless or have long cords so I can sit comfortably at about two meters from my TV. When I encounter a puzzle that requires some precision (e.g. sliders or combining objects) I do slow down a little.

I also sometimes start up more actiony games like Oblivion as they have very large worlds to explore (I tend to avoid the monsters though, as I have trouble keeping my cycling speed constant when I also have to aim and fire or slash at things).

I wonder if I am alone in doing this? think

I'll be back, one day, when I feel like it.

How about eating, working out, reading *and* gaming? smile

lol... when I game, I game. The only workout times I get is when my character is chasing somebody smile.

I have a theory "exercise kills",(think of all the people found dead next to the treadmill), so my workouts consist of eating chocolate while opening and closing the CD drive.(Just kidding about the exercise).

My left hand gets a work out by lifting my wine glass, my right hand gets one by clicking the mouse. The rest of me remains sadly underdeveloped. laugh

I occasionally stand up, stretch, and sit back down. Pollo, you are utterly admirable! grin

Pollo, that is such a great idea! Unfortunately, my console and my bike are several rooms apart. Hmmmm...........

In the long Winter season, I play because I've just shoveled 100' of walkway & want to relax.
Does that count? LOL

It sounds like a very healthy setup, Pollo.
I don't own an exercise bike or treadmill myself. But for those who use one, it sounds less boring to do it while playing a game.

You must have a great deal of endurance by now -- and able to last hundreds of miles on that bike.

I make sure I go out for a walk before I even think about starting up the computer, let alone a game. If not, mouse movements and the occasional walk to the kitchen or bathroom would be my only exercize.

Carpe chocolate.

If only lol
No, I only use it during lunch breaks every two or three days, and then only for an hour or so (20 kilometers). It's about the only exercise I get, as I do not participate in any sports and am a lazy housewife grin

yesI'm with Lady Kestrel: I do my chores and stretching and walking routine in the AM before I even think about the computer-otherwise my only excercise would be WSAD or mouse clicking smashpc

That may not be hundreds of miles, but it's still pretty respectable. I wouldn't last 10 minutes.

I get a lot of resistance work out since I now exclusively play on my lap top.

Resists constant urge to send lap top flying across the room during difficult gaming moments.

Seriously though, not having a car where I live, I walk everywhere and few places have elevators so I do a lot of stairs. And I always go for my late afternoon get the daily food, get away from work (my PC) every day. laugh

I do not know if Pollo is an amazing multi tasker or been gaming waaay too long but I have to admire her creative approach to athletic gaming!

Well, I work out when I play "Wii Fit" for my Wii, but thats about it. Although, when I was young I would stand and jump around and lean sideways when playing racing games and kick and stuff while playing street fighter and double dragon. I guess there are some of the reasons I love the Wii now smile
